The 1.08 of Fate

Oh boy... we got big ol' bag of ones and zeros for you guys that I'm sure you fine virtual fellas will appreciate. I'll tell ya, I'm looking out over this digital prairie of electronic anti-gravity sports and, to be honest, it brings a tear to my left eye, though blinded in the great Shine City uprising some years ago. Hot damn, enough of that! Let's get right into it.

Ranked mode is seeing some additions. I especially like the option to quickly 'Continue' into a new match with either your last opponent or somebody else. The matchmaking has also been tweaked to look for more similar rank players. Bigger changes to the Ranked mode are planned for the next season, when the whole leaderboard will be reset to give everyone a chance again. For that, we're looking at around December for now, so be aware!

If you want to get at edge on the rest, know that we often do a public beta for upcoming changes. Join the official Discord server at and read the pins in the #betablaze channel. But remember to switch back once you're done, because you can't play with players who are not in the beta.

One last itty bitty thing. I sneakily added a match counter in the bottom of the main menu. These are your total matches played online AND offline.

Patch Notes 1.08

- Matchmaking filters for Ranked are now more geared towards similar rank opponents
- No freeze anymore if a player disconnected just before match started
- Things don't go wrong anymore if host changes game mode while other player still in result screen
- Fixed players not seeing each other if joining a lobby at exactly the same time (causing desync at match start)
- Added a 'Continue' option after a Ranked match (you'll enter the lobby to find a new match)

- Fixed Nitro's grab guard on second special hit
- Added an option to do turn-around bunts in the air by holding up in the same way as the neutral swing
- Fixed CPU's refusing to hit the ball when they get certain powerups

- Fixed left shoulder button not working in online lobbies
- Added the total matches played statistic to the main menu

Then the 1.071 hotfix from last time didn't get notes, so here's a recap with the more interesting stuff:

- Fixed Straitjacket Alert not unlocking
- Latch now regains his double jump if he cancels his wall-swing with a special
- Added missing Baldi Konijn in the credits, a magnificent concept artist who designed the backgrounds for us. Check him out:

Update 1.07 Live

That's right we jumped straight to 1.07.

The most important fix is the one with Quickmatch where some players needed to wait a lot longer while there were people readily available. Also the missing Frank Klepacki track in Showcase (sorry Frank!) and tons of small stuff in the visuals and gameplay. Scroll down past all the brabble to see the changes in detail!

Even though Ranked mode was a bonus that we didn't exactly plan to have on launch, we're very happy how avidly the mode is played (the please-take-a-break-for-your-health kind of avidly). I'm sure everyone is aware that Ranked mode will evolve over time, but thanks again for your patience.

Another thing of note is that modding is blowing up, with a big load of texture mods leading the way. Head over to #modding in the official Discord ( to learn how to do it too. Here's a showcase of some gems already:

Then there's a Blaze tournament coming or should I say 'Doom Is Coming'... This Saturday on the 3rd of November all bets are off for this Lethal League Blaze tourney handled by your local Hangboy at 3PM EDT sharp on the official Discord in #competitive (

There's Megabyte Punch Steam keys to be won! Take a look at the rest of the rules over here:
Note that Beta testers from pre-release are not allowed to join this tournament.

Patch notes 1.07

- Fixed crash when username contains } {
- Fixed various texts and dialog
- Fixed some 2D effects (thanks Dr. Melkpak)
- Fixed a few causes of softlocks
- 'Couldn't join' message now includes reason why
- Player names do not disappear anymore when russian or japanese are the selected language
- Quickmatch matches quicker
- Fixed the back end of the Workbot Factory assembly line
- Added missing Jawbreaker to credits

- Changed Nitro's special return swing hitpause from a half-shorten to a full shorten
- Changed Grid's special reactivation margins and made the spike option only straight down
- Nitro special pre-charge shorten should be fixed
- Grid can no longer bunt out of special (will probably get something in return later)
- Latch regains doublejump on bunt from wall, but can't instantly bunt from wall anymore
- Added a late turn option to first few frames of grounded swings
- Later story events will use 5 stocks again (as intended)

- Changed the unlocking of outfits in the story mode to finishing the event without losing stocks. This goes for all outfits that had a story event requirement and removes their arcade mode requirement.
- Added the missing Frank Klepacki - Decible to Beats unlocks in Showcase
- Fixed the Vicious Volley achievement
- Fixed double unlock that caused negative Sparks

“The sequel to the best ball-based fighting game is just as rad and even deeper”

“’s an extremely confident sequel that improves on just about every part of its predecessor”

About This Game

Lethal League Blaze is an intense, high speed ball game, with unique characters, outta sight sounds and none of that weak shit. In Shine City, the anti-gravity ball game has long been illegal. The group who kept playing was dubbed the Lethal League. Even now, with their sport pushed underground, players and crews compete in the League for challenge and respect.

In the game, the goal is to beat your opponents with the ball. You can manipulate the ball to get the perfect angle and use your character's special moves to surprise them. But every strike speeds up the ball or even doubles its speed, up to shatteringly extreme velocities. You can tag the ball to your color, but on those high speeds the tables are quickly turned. You can play locally with friends and foes, by yourself in the singleplayer modes or battle it out online!

  • Up to 4 players:
Play locally AND online with up to 4 players.
  • Easy to pick up, hard to master gameplay:
Start off simply hitting the ball faster and faster back and forth. Improve by learning how to use Smashes, Bunts and Special Abilities to your advantage. Then go further beyond with parries and countering with throws ending with the pure psychological goodness: taunts.
  • Tons of unlockable extras and secrets:
Unlock characters and their outfits as you play. New modes and stages are in there too and even the soundtrack can be unlocked to play at leisure.
  • Play on your own:
Step up to the plate by yourself and beat a series of opponents in the Arcade Mode to reach the beat-blasting bossfight. Then check out the event-based Story Mode that has you playing all sides of the going-downs in Shine City.
  • Modes and options:
Pick your preferred style of play like with HP, one-shot kill or points. And then there are game modes like Strikers, using goals, and something called Lethal Volley...
  • Wicked Tracks:
A Breakbeat, Hip-Hop and House soundtrack featuring the likes of Hideki Naganuma, Frank Klepacki, Pixelord, Bignic and of course Klaus Veen.

Lethal League Blaze is the sequel to the popular projectile-fighting game Lethal League known for it's ridiculous speeds and hitstun, the original game was intense to watch and intenser to play. This time around there will be double the characters at launch and more to come after.
