About This Game

The machines kept working. Now it's your turn.

You wake in an abandoned depot. Your chassis is worn, your battery is low, and someone on the radio knows your number.

The Long Shift is a factory automation and exploration game set on an Earth ruled by AI. Build a workshop into a working industrial network, prepare for expeditions, and follow a signal through the ruins of the world that came before you.

Turn wreckage into a working factory

Your first components come from scrap. Soon, they're moving down a production line of your own design.

Connect drills, smelters, and assemblers with conveyors and transfer arms. Route fluids through pipes and tanks. Find the bottleneck, build a better line, and manufacture the research drives that unlock your next machines. Build the tools that let you build bigger.

Build a network. Give yourself a way home.

A distant deposit is only useful if you can bring its resources back. Establish outposts, lay electric rail, and schedule trains to carry solid cargo and fluids between them. Ride along to inspect the network yourself.

Balance power generation and battery storage as daylight changes. Pack spare cells and supplies before leaving the workshop. Your factory makes the next expedition possible.

Plan from above, then switch to first person and walk among the machines you built.

Make room for your next line

The machines outside your workshop have plans of their own. Hostile bases assemble attack forces, and getting too close can bring their waiting units straight to you.

Equip your robot, manufacture ammunition, and supply your defenses. Push into occupied installations, capture territory, and restore machine-controlled ground. Or choose Peaceful mode to focus on building and exploration.

Find out what the work is for

Someone is still transmitting. Follow the signal through abandoned facilities, recover conflicting records, and repair the infrastructure that opens the way forward.

What begins as a job to keep the machines running becomes a reason to reclaim the world around them.

One repaired workshop. One working line. One more reason to keep going.
