About This Game

One merge can clear a crowded board—or set an entire chain in motion.

Take your relic and expedition notebook into a lost island city. Arrange Runestones on a hexagonal board, make the most of limited Stamina, and combine the Curios you discover into a scoring strategy for this run.

One merge. An entire chain.

Connect at least four Runestones of the same rank to merge them one rank higher. The new Runestone can join another group, turning a single action into a chain of merges, with each segment adding to your score.

Moving and Awakening both cost Stamina. Merge now for immediate points, or rearrange the board and wait for a better opportunity? Balance the Target Score against your remaining Stamina and available space.

Your board carries over between ordinary stages. The arrangement you leave behind becomes the starting point for what comes next.

Choose one of three Curios. Build your scoring strategy.

Along the way, choose one of three Curios to suit your board. Strengthen low-rank merges, raise your Merge Multiplier, pursue chains, or change the rules of merging. Make each new discovery work with what you already have.

Higher ranks are only one route to a strong score. With the right Curios, Runestone ranks, traits, and arrangements can all become the key to your strategy. Find effects that work together, then put that combination into practice on the board.

The Ascending Stone Ruler, for example, lets an adjacent path of rank-1, 2, 3, and 4 Runestones merge into a rank-5 stone. An arrangement that could not merge before may become your next opportunity.

Four relics that change how you play the board

Begin with the Echo Ring and unlock more expedition relics as you progress. Choose one before each run, then plan your board and Curio combinations around its abilities.

  • Echo Ring: Siphon a selected Runestone to clear space and recover Stamina, opening up options on a crowded board.
  • Six-Way Compass: Push Runestones in six directions to reorganize the board, bring scattered stones together, and find new merges.
  • Twin Seals: Plan across gold and silver zones. Qualifying merges within one zone trigger mirroring on the opposite side, letting you prepare for changes across both halves.
  • Layered Runestone Casket: Stack multiple Runestones in a single cell. Work from the top and gradually reveal the layers beneath, preparing for future merges.

Restock, reshape, or save for another opportunity

At temporary events, spend resources for an immediate benefit—or preserve your supplies for the road ahead. Weigh each option’s rewards and costs against your current board and build.

Spend Ancient Coins on tools and Curios at the shop, or adjust your Runestone Reserve through workshop services. The Reserve determines which Runestones future awakenings can bring, extending your plans beyond the next move and into later stages.

Take your build into the Royal Vault

Travel through the City Gate Ruins, Royal Gardens, and Palace Hall. Adapt to distinct Mechanism Effects in Ruin Trials before facing the Royal Vault’s two-phase final challenge.

Warm stone steps, a distant azure sea, and paper notebooks bring this bright, hand-drawn animation-style city to life. Progress through Standard, Advanced, and Challenge difficulties, unlock more relics, Curios, and tools, and set out again with a new combination.
