What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“GingerVitis is an independently developed survival horror game that I want to expand and improve alongside its players.

Early Access allows me to introduce the core single-player Survivor and Ginger gameplay while gathering valuable feedback on difficulty, gameplay balance, NPC behaviour, and overall enjoyment.

I have plans to introduce additional locations, alternative escape routes, new survival mechanics, expanded Ginger abilities, character selection and more interactive environments.

**Multiplayer is also part of my longer-term vision for GingerVitis**, with the goal of allowing players to experience the hunt together, either as survivors trying to escape or as Gingers hunting for souls.

Player feedback will help shape these features and guide development as GingerVitis grows into a larger and more polished survival horror experience.

As an independent developer, planned features and priorities may evolve throughout Early Access.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I currently anticipate GingerVitis remaining in Early Access for approximately 12–18 months.

During this period, I plan to focus on improving gameplay, introducing new levels, expanding survival and Ginger mechanics, and exploring multiplayer functionality.

As GingerVitis is independently developed, the timeline may change depending on development progress and community feedback. My priority is to deliver a stable, enjoyable experience rather than rush the full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of GingerVitis focuses on the core single-player survival horror experience, allowing players to survive as a villager or hunt for souls as a Ginger within the current village environment.

For the full release, I plan to expand GingerVitis with additional content, new gameplay mechanics, improved character behaviour, and further refinements based on player feedback.

**Planned improvements and additions include:**

- **New Levels and Environments:** Additional locations with unique layouts, challenges, atmospheres, and environmental dangers. Each level is intended to offer a different survival experience.

- **More Ways to Escape:** Alternative escape routes, objectives, and strategies for survivors, offering different ways to survive rather than relying on a single exit.

- **Expanded Survivor Gameplay:** Additional defensive items, hiding opportunities, environmental interactions, and survival mechanics to help players outsmart and evade the Gingers.

- **Enhanced Ginger Gameplay:** More hunting abilities, interactions, hiding and ambush opportunities, and new ways to track, locate, and capture survivors.

- **Daywalker Ginger:** A planned Ginger appearance and gameplay concept that would allow Gingers to operate in daylight environments, introducing new hunting opportunities and survival challenges.

- **Improved NPC Behaviour:** More natural and unpredictable behaviour for computer-controlled survivors and Gingers, including improved navigation, smarter hunting and fleeing, better hiding strategies, and more realistic reactions to their surroundings.

- **Additional Assets and Customization:** More environmental objects, buildings, interactive props, character appearances, animations, and visual improvements to make the world feel more alive.

- **More Varied Gameplay:** Additional objectives, unexpected events, and gameplay mechanics to increase replayability and make each round feel different.

- **Multiplayer Development:** Multiplayer is part of my longer-term vision for GingerVitis. I intend to explore the possibility of allowing players to survive together or compete against each other as survivors and Gingers, introducing new opportunities for cooperation, deception, and survival.

- **Continued Optimization and Polish:** Ongoing improvements to performance, audio, character movement, animations, controls, and gameplay balance to provide a smoother and more enjoyable experience.

**My goal** is to develop GingerVitis into a larger, more varied, and replayable survival horror experience while preserving the atmosphere and core gameplay introduced during Early Access.

As an independent developer, development priorities and planned features may evolve based on technical feasibility, development progress, and community feedback. Multiplayer and other experimental mechanics remain long-term goals rather than guaranteed features for version 1.0.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“GingerVitis is currently a playable single-player survival horror game featuring two distinct gameplay experiences: Survivor and Ginger.

The Early Access version takes place in a stylized, supernatural village where players can choose to escape as a Survivor or hunt for souls as a Ginger.

**Current gameplay features include:**

- **Two Playable Roles:** Play as a Survivor attempting to escape the village or as a Ginger hunting villagers and collecting their souls.

- **Survivor Objectives:** Repair the village gate, restore extinguished lanterns, collect necessary items, and survive long enough to escape.

- **Ginger Hunting Gameplay:** Chase survivors, extract their souls, and transform captured villagers into additional Gingers.

- **Computer-Controlled Characters:** Villagers and Gingers navigate the environment, patrol, react to threats, chase, flee, and interact with certain gameplay objectives.

- **Defensive Equipment:** Survivors can use items such as the Sunray, Smoke Pouch, and Bell to distract, evade, or temporarily defend themselves against Gingers.

- **Exploration and Interaction:** Explore the village, search chests, collect coins, purchase useful equipment, hide in designated locations, and interact with environmental objects.

- **Dynamic Gameplay Events:** Lantern blowouts, changing character behaviour, randomized item locations, and other events introduce variety between rounds.

- **Atmospheric Environment:** A nighttime village featuring stylized buildings, environmental lighting, ambient sound effects, and suspenseful background music.

- **Single-Player Experience:** Both gameplay modes currently feature computer-controlled opponents. Multiplayer is not yet available.

**Current Development Status**

The core gameplay systems are implemented, providing a foundation for both survival and hunting experiences. However, GingerVitis remains under active development.

Players may encounter bugs, gameplay imbalances, occasional unusual character behaviour, and features that require further refinement.

Early Access development will focus on improving stability, balancing gameplay, refining character behaviour, and expanding the available content.

My aim is to provide an enjoyable experience in its current state while continuing to improve GingerVitis through development and community feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I currently plan to keep GingerVitis at the same base price throughout Early Access and after the full release.

My goal is to make the game accessible to players while continuing to improve and expand the experience with additional content, gameplay features, and updates.

Although pricing plans may be reviewed if circumstances change, I do not currently anticipate increasing the price when GingerVitis leaves Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“As an independent developer, I believe community feedback will play an important role in shaping the future of GingerVitis.

Throughout Early Access, I plan to involve players through Steam Community Discussions, gameplay feedback, bug reports, and regular development updates.

**I particularly want feedback on:**

- **Gameplay Balance:** Making both Survivor and Ginger gameplay challenging, enjoyable, and rewarding.
- **NPC Behaviour:** Improving how computer-controlled characters navigate, hunt, flee, hide, and react to their surroundings.
- **New Features:** Gathering suggestions for additional escape routes, Ginger abilities, defensive equipment, and environmental interactions.
- **New Levels:** Learning what types of environments, challenges, and objectives players would like to experience.
- **Future Multiplayer:** Gathering community ideas and feedback as I explore the possibility of introducing multiplayer gameplay.
- **Performance and Stability:** Identifying bugs, technical problems, and opportunities to improve performance across different PC configurations.

I also plan to share development progress, upcoming changes, and information about new features through Steam announcements and occasional gameplay videos.

While I may not be able to implement every suggestion, I want players to feel that their feedback is heard and considered throughout development.

**My goal is to build a community around GingerVitis where players can help shape a more enjoyable, challenging, and replayable survival horror experience.**

Thank you for being part of the journey!

*Yours truly,*

**The Ginger Developer. **”

About This Game

GingerVitis

Keep your soul. Escape the village.

Welcome to GingerVitis, a supernatural survival horror game where the night belongs to the Gingers, and every soul is worth hunting.

Will you survive the night, or become the nightmare?

Play as a Survivor, exploring a mysterious village while avoiding the Gingers hunting you. Repair the village gate, restore lanterns, collect useful items, and find your way to freedom before your soul is taken.

Or become a Ginger and turn the tables. Hunt villagers, extract their souls, and transform them into fellow Gingers until nobody is left to escape.

Two sides. One village. No second chances.

Early Access — Only the Beginning

GingerVitis is an independently developed game, with more locations, escape routes, survival mechanics, Ginger abilities, and interactive environments planned for future updates.

Your feedback will help shape what comes next.

The village is waiting. The Gingers are hungry.

Yours truly,

The Ginger Developer.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

GingerVitis was developed with the assistance of generative AI tools for selected pre-generated content, including some environmental artwork, textures, character sprites, animations, audio, and promotional materials.

These assets have been incorporated, edited, and integrated into the game as part of its development.

The game does not use live generative AI during gameplay. All gameplay mechanics, character behaviours, and interactions are controlled by traditional game systems.
