What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We want to develop Crimson Oathfall with feedback from players while improving combat readability, balance, performance and presentation. The game is playable, but its story and overall polish are still unfinished.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We do not have a reliable end date yet. The remaining story content and work on performance, balance and visual polish need further development and testing before we can give a useful timeframe.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to continue the unfinished story and refine creature animations, combat effects, progression and performance. The scope and order of this work may change as development continues and we learn from player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“You can play single-player expeditions, develop your creature through mutations, fight bosses and unlock progression. The story is not complete and currently ends with "More on release." Balance and visual polish are still being refined. Some stuttering remains, and optimization is ongoing.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We have not decided whether the price will change during Early Access or at full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to use Steam discussions for feedback and bug reports, and share updates through Steam announcements and patch notes. Feedback on combat, mutation combinations, progression and performance will help guide our priorities.”

About This Game

Crimson Oathfall is a single-player action roguelite about reshaping a creature and finding a way home. Fight through crowded arenas, take organs from fallen guardians and return to a refuge inhabited by monsters with work of their own.

Make the body your build

Choose a creature with its own active ability. Add mutations, combine them into fusions and graft organs that change how your attacks work together. Dash through a gap, turn back on the creatures chasing you and commit when a guardian leaves an opening.

Bring something back

Spend your earned ash in the refuge. Visit its residents to improve your next expedition, unlock forms and prepare another combination. The people you meet have more to offer than upgrades: their conversations lead you to those still outside its walls.

Go beyond the arena

Cross ruined districts, flooded passages and machinery built into flesh and stone. Story missions ask you to escort survivors, secure crossings and release working mechanisms under attack. Keep the route open, watch the guardian and get everyone to the exit.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Generative AI was used to create artwork and animation source images, voice performances, sound effects, music, story dialogue and translations. These assets are prepared before release and included with the game. The game does not generate AI content during play or connect to an external AI service.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Frequent fantasy combat with blood, exposed monstrous anatomy and organ grafts. Creature mutations depict body horror. The story includes captivity, injuries, forced bodily changes and the rescue of people connected to hostile machinery. Some abilities and bargains trade health for power.
