About This Game

The city is lost. Get in anyway.

Harrowgate shut its gates the night the machines came down out of the hills. The hex-wizards answered by raising the dead. Everyone left outside the walls is living in the mud under the gate, and now the fighting has reached the camp.

Grave Wire is a survivors-like roguelite. You move; your weapons fire on their own. Every run you grow from a single starting weapon into a screen-filling arsenal of copper wire, rune steel, corrosive gas, scrap bombs and raised bone while waves of scrap machines, armored husks and the risen dead close in.

Six fighters, eighteen ways to play

  • Witches channel magic through tech: Wire Whip, Arc Wires and the Signal Beam.
  • Knights are armored close-combat fighters with Rune Blade, Rune Shield and the Crypt Lance.
  • Blight Engineers control the battlefield with corrosion that spreads from enemy to enemy.
  • Blood Runners are fast vampire skirmishers who strike faster the longer they keep moving.
  • Scrap Goblins are demolitionists whose explosions set off more explosions: scrap bombs, firebombs and mines.
  • Grave Hackers are necromancers who raise the fallen as skull drones, wraiths and bone golems.
Each family has three variants with their own starting weapon and innate passive, so every pick plays differently.

Build, fuse, overwhelm

  • 22 weapons and 25 passives to combine every run.
  • Push a weapon and its matching passive far enough, then defeat an elite to fuse it into something far stronger. Fireball becomes Meteor, Scrap Bomb becomes Cluster Bomb, Wraith Pack becomes Wraith Stampede.
  • Secret weapons wait for the players who push a build to its limit.
  • Reroll and banish choices to steer your build.

A city to fight through

  • City Outskirts: the siege camp under the sealed gate, guarded by the Warden.
  • Ruined City: streets and squares of a fallen city, held by the City Watch, two iron sentinels and the wizard who commands them, all at once.
  • Sewers: flooded channels under the streets, where the Drowned Hierophant sends the city's dead back up through the drains.
  • Win a map to unlock the next and walk out through its exit into the story beyond. The wizards' Academy and the machines' Foundry wait deeper in.
Elites, marching walls of iron, hex circles and ambushes break up every run.

Three ways to run every map

  • Normal: 15 minutes, then the boss.
  • Hard: 20 minutes of tougher enemies and denser waves.
  • Endless: survive as long as you can against recurring bosses.

Keep getting stronger

  • Spend Embers on permanent upgrades.
  • A skill web for each family.
  • 23 achievements to earn, each paying out Embers.
  • A Compendium of every weapon, passive, character and enemy you've discovered.
