There’s still a paragraph to finish, but the cat in the corner of your desktop is already fast asleep. You keep working. It rolls over. When you feel like a break, open their little home and see what everyone is up to.

A Cat of My Own is a desktop pet game that fits around everyday computer life. Begin with one cat, gradually meet five companions, and make a little room for them on your desktop—and in their home.

Share your home and browse the latest synced cats and decorations of your Steam friends. When a friend enables care from visitors, you can help with food, water or litter. Your care takes effect when their home next comes online—a small kindness for later.

Switch to the full-screen animated screensaver and let their little home fill your screen. A quiet nap. A lazy afternoon. Pair your day with a focus timer, ambient sounds and reminders, and make a little room for rest as well as work.

The home enters standby after an extended time hidden. Hidden scenes stop drawing, and resting states update less often. Adjust the number and size of desktop cats and their behaviour to fit your routine. Resource use varies with the number of cats, scene, resolution and hardware.

It started with two cats beside my computer.

I have two cats at home. While I work, they often lie beside my computer and quietly keep me company. I get on with my tasks; they get on with their naps. One glance away from the screen makes the desk feel a little warmer.

Those ordinary moments inspired A Cat of My Own. I wanted to bring that feeling to your desktop: cats nearby while you are busy, and a little window to open when you want a break, top up a bowl, or see how their day is going.

Making this game is a way of putting a little of my life with them into something I can share. I hope that, next time you sit down at your computer, you find a moment like that too. There may still be work to do, but there is already a cat beside you.

A few honest words about how it is made.

We use AI tools to help with parts of the work. Our care goes into bringing the warmth of living with cats to a companion you want to keep on your desktop. AI has helped with some production steps; this game's starting point is our two cats and the wish to share what their company means to us.

Generative AI assisted with selected illustrations, promotional artwork, predefined text and localization during development. These are provided as pre-generated assets. The launch version does not offer live-generated AI chat, images or audio, and does not connect to external third-party AI services.

Before your cats move in

• Windows is planned for launch. macOS adaptation is in progress. The Steam edition requires an internet connection for verification and online progression services.
• A one-time purchase for the base game, with optional in-game coin packs. Cats are adopted using in-game coins, subject to the required companion and affection milestones; buying coins does not bypass these requirements. Coins can also be earned through regular play, and companions can be adopted through normal progression without additional purchases.
• The full-screen mode is an animated screensaver, not an operating-system wallpaper replacement. Timers and reminders require the app to remain running.
• AI chat will not be available at launch. Promotional illustrations and illustrated travel photos do not imply live AI conversations.
