Pick one of five heroes and fight down through six themed dungeons in turn-based ATB battles. Every floor is built fresh, every boss has a special move, and the town between runs has quests, a shop and an inn. Bring the five scattered Blades home and use them to end the Demon for good.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Five Blades Deep is already a complete adventure: five classes, six dungeons and the Demon at the end. I'm one developer, and I want players' feedback on balance, the classes and the bosses while I build the last big piece, Endless mode. Early Access lets me shape it with the people playing it.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“A few months, depending on how Endless mode and players' feedback go.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to add Endless mode: floors forever, an upgrade you keep after every dungeon, and enemies that grow stronger each time you go back down. I also plan more balance passes, more sound and music, and polish based on what players tell me.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The whole main adventure is playable from start to finish: five classes, six themed dungeons each with its own enemies and bosses, the town with its quests, shop and inn, the opening prologue, and over 100 in-game achievements. Expect some rough edges and balance changes along the way.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“A free demo is available to try first. I plan to raise the price when the game leaves Early Access with Endless mode, so Early Access is the cheapest way in.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through the game's Discord and the Steam forums: I read every bug report and suggestion, post a changelog with every update, and use players' feedback to tune balance, classes and bosses, and to shape Endless mode.”

About This Game

Five heroes. Six dungeons. One Demon that won't stay dead.

Five Blades Deep is a roguelike dungeon crawler with turn-based ATB battles. Explore a fresh map every floor, walk into an enemy to start a fight, and battle up to four enemies at once with attacks, techniques, spells and items.

Features

  • Five classes - the Barbarian, Mage, Rogue, Amazon and Hunter, each with its own abilities in and out of battle.
  • ATB battles - every hero and enemy acts on their own timer. Watch the enemies' wind-ups and pick your moment.
  • Six dungeon themes, one per difficulty tier - the Sewer, the Mountain, the Swamp, the Forest, the prison keep and the Demon Castle, each with its own enemies, rooms and battle backdrops.
  • Bosses with special moves - the Skeleton King raises the dead, the Yeti King calls in cubs, the Large Red Slime splits, and the Demon, struck down once by strength alone, has come back.
  • A town between runs - take quests, upgrade weapons, rest at the inn and talk to the townspeople, whose story changes as you win back the Blades.
  • A hand-animated look - pixel-art heroes and enemies with full battle animations, and sound timed to every swing.
  • Over 100 in-game achievements for every class, boss and tier.

Coming in the full release

Endless mode: floors forever, an upgrade to keep after every dungeon, and enemies that grow stronger each time you go back down.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

The character, enemy and town sprites and their animations were generated with PixelLab, and the backgrounds, portraits and music with Leonardo AI, then picked, edited, assembled and timed by hand into the game. Some story text and the store page were drafted with an AI assistant and edited by the developer. The sound effects come from free (CC0) sound libraries and were layered and timed by hand. No content is generated while you play. Some art and sound will be replaced with hand-made work during Early Access.
