About This Game

Raku is a single-player pixel-art adventure through Kyoto, where everyday encounters meet the mysteries of Japanese folklore.

Explore Kyoto through four seasons

Follow paths beneath torii gates, wander temple gardens and neighborhood lanes, and discover the city in changing seasonal colors. Pause beside a lotus pond in the rain or watch snow settle around the Golden Pavilion.



Talk with the people you meet and follow their stories through small favors, discoveries and puzzles. Offer prayers, collect pilgrimage stamps, draw fortunes and repair treasured objects along the way.

Discover another Kyoto in your dreams

Fall asleep to enter a mysterious Kyoto inhabited by yokai. Familiar places take on a different atmosphere. Explore their stories and choose talismans in encounters with creatures from Japanese folklore.

Enjoy the tastes and traditions of Kyoto

Whisk matcha, make Japanese sweets, and prepare seasonal kaiseki dishes. Choose ingredients, tend the heat and arrange each plate, from a comforting serving of chestnut rice to a complete seasonal menu.



Step onto the Noh stage and follow the chants and rhythms of a traditional performance, accompanied by musicians and a chorus.



Try yabusame horseback archery: draw your bow, judge your timing and release as the targets pass. A well-placed shot can send colorful paper fluttering through the air.



Between these activities, enjoy smaller discoveries: scoop goldfish, meet a neighborhood cat, or take a moment to appreciate the scenery.
