What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access allows me to fine tune every detail based on feedback from the community, enabling me to deliver a more polished experience from day one on release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Probably 1-2 years, as I am a solo indie developer.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version contains the foundation of the game:

- A large open world

- Physics-based VR weapon handling with realistic ballistics

- Enemies, Anomalies, radiation and survival systems

- Dynamic weather and lighting with a day/night cycle

- Saving and loading

Over the course of Early Access I plan to expand it considerably. My current plans include:

- Story: a main storyline that gradually reveals what happened in the Zone, told through objectives, documents and the locations themselves.

- World: finishing the remaining regions of the 144 km² map with new locations, building interiors and points of interest.

- Artifacts: a full artifact system, with rare artifacts forming around anomalies that can be found, collected and used.

- Anomalies: additional anomaly types with new behaviors.

- Enemies: more enemy types and smarter AI.

- Survival: carry weight that affects movement and stamina, medical items for healing and treating radiation, and further balancing of damage and recovery.

- Weapons and equipment: more weapons and attachments, refilling magazines by hand, and additional gear.

- Polish: performance optimization across a wide range of VR hardware, more comfort options, audio improvements and ongoing bug fixing.

The progress board in the main menu shows how far along each of these areas is, and every update comes with detailed patch notes. These plans may change based on community feedback, because the goal is whatever makes the game better.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Unforeseen Consequences is in active development. The world, weapons, ballistics, survival systems and save system are playable today. Artifacts, story and other aspects of the game are being built over the course of Early Access. A progress board on the main menu will show how far along each part of the game is.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I plan to gradually raise the price as major content and features are added, so players who join during Early Access get the game at its lowest price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“As a solo developer, player feedback is the most valuable input I have, and I plan to let it directly shape what I work on next.

Bug reports and suggestions: the Steam Discussions will have dedicated threads for bug reports, feature suggestions and VR hardware or comfort issues. I read every post, and the most reported problems get fixed first.

Balancing and hardware: difficulty, damage, stamina, radiation and comfort settings will be tuned based on how players actually play. Feedback also covers the wide range of headsets and PCs I cannot test myself.

Transparency: the in-game progress board and detailed patch notes will show what changed in each update, including changes made because of player feedback.”

About This Game

Nobody walks out of the Zone.

The 144 km² Zone doesn’t follow the rules of the world you came from. Walk far enough in any direction and the road brings you back to where you started. Time slows, stretches and slips. Lightning lashes out of thin air, and invisible lenses of gravity throw grown men across a field. The Geiger counter on your wrist never stops ticking.

You came in with a backpack, a sidearm and a few magazines. Now you have to choose. You can find the edge of this place and break through it. Or you can stay and learn how the Zone works, and make a living from the artifacts it gives up to the few who survive long enough to find them.

Unforeseen Consequences is a VR survival shooter for PC VR, built from the ground up for virtual reality.

A world that bends

  • 144 km² of open Zone. Forests, industrial ruins, railways, power lines and kilometers of road, all streamed around you without loading screens.

  • Space that loops. At first the Zone keeps you trapped in its heart. The full map opens only to those who dig deep enough to find a way out.

  • A living sky. Long days, dark nights and weather that changes by region and by day, so no two playthroughs see the same storms.

  • Anomalies with intent. Some sit and wait. Others drift along their own paths. Learn their behaviour or become part of it.

Every round is real

  • Full ballistic simulation. Bullets travel, drop over distance, penetrate materials based on what they hit, and ricochet at shallow angles. Enemy soldiers shoot with the same physics you do.

  • Hands-on weapon handling. Every weapon takes only its own magazines. Load each round yourself, check your chamber, and turn a magazine in your hand to count what’s left in it.

  • Inspect your gear. Turn a weapon on its side and read it, just as you would in real life.

  • Enemies who fight back. Patrols take cover, flank, and track you across the streamed world.

Survive the Zone

  • Radiation that kills. Read the dosimeter, avoid the hot zones, and know when to turn back.

  • Stamina, fall damage and weight. Sprinting and jumping cost stamina. A careless drop can break you.

  • A world that remembers. Every item you drop, move or stash stays where you left it, even across saves.

  • Wrist-mounted readouts. Geiger counter, clock, health and carry weight, right where you’d check a watch.

Built for VR

  • Developed and optimized on a GTX 1660 from day one, so the Zone stays smooth on entry-level VR hardware and at the same time looks unreal on an RTX 5090 on Ultra settings.

  • Left-handed play is supported throughout.
