About This Game

At 3:33 AM on 31 October 2006, purge command deleted every post on the forum: three years of EVPs, investigation reports and late-night arguments about orbs. The log says it ran from quietroom's account. She had been missing since September.

Twenty years later, a viewer mails The Midnight Files a hard drive. It boots into , frozen one minute after the purge, and asks for a new moderator. Drag each post back to its board, then its sub-board, then its exact slot in the thread. Earn Rep and Sealed Cases, and buy the admin's scripts to take over the sorting. Read the threads you bring back, and the members who wrote them.

Your inbox fills up as you work. Members ask for the threads they miss, some messages wait for your reply, and here and there in the pile is a post that doesn't belong anywhere: something quietroom wrote and never sent.

The more of the forum you bring back, the more of what it was documenting comes back with it.

Features

  • 9,333 posts across 7 boards and 37 sub-boards, sorted in three layers: board, sub-board, then the exact slot in the thread.

  • 9 scripts written by the forum's admin, from a simple highlighter to auto-filers and unpurge.exe.

  • Over 200 private messages: admin tips, member drama, spam, accounts that shouldn't exist, and a few from you.

  • 12 requests from forum members that pay Rep, and replies you choose that change how the story ends.

  • 118 posts that were reported before the purge, with the admin's take on most of them. Restore each one or keep it deleted: your choices change what the members say, how the story ends, and how fast the forum turns.

  • quietroom's unsent drafts, hidden among the deleted posts for you to find.

  • Every thread you restore can be read, and every member's profile opened.

  • Starts cozy and turns creepy over 7 stages: whispers under the music, eyes in the icons, someone typing, and stranger things after 3 AM (Realtime). No jump scares, and a Comfort setting turns off the strongest effects.

  • A secret mode after the ending, Steam Cloud saves and 32 achievements.
