About This Game

Crashpad is a cozy idle game made to sit on your desktop. Shrink your outpost into a small widget in the corner of your screen and it keeps building and producing, and your ships keep flying, while you work, browse or watch something. Check in when a ship comes home.

Your ship came down hard. It won't fly again. But two little robots made it — and this crash pad is home now.

Now you're stranded on a little floating rock at the edge of nowhere. Start from the wreck, build a cozy outpost one building at a time, and send your ships out into the fog to see what's out there.

A little outpost on your desktop

  • Switch to widget mode and your outpost becomes a small floating island in the bottom-right corner of your screen — borderless, always on top, with a transparent background. Drag it anywhere and resize it to fit.
  • Choose whether the widget shows your base or the map.
  • Ships come and go while you work. When crates arrive, click them to collect and send the ship straight back out.
  • It stays out of your way: the music switches off, sounds can be set to alerts only or off, and the widget runs at a low frame rate to keep your PC free for work.
  • The widget remembers where you left it.

Build a cozy outpost

  • Raise Dew Collectors, Foundries, Fuel Condensers and Garden Domes to keep Water, Alloy, Fuel and Food flowing.
  • Build several of each production building, and upgrade your buildings — including the cargo pods that store everything.
  • Little helper bots bustle around the base while windows glow, fans spin and chimneys puff.
  • Your outpost keeps working while the game is closed, until its storage fills up. Come back and collect.

Collect a fleet

  • Send the quick Courier, the roomy Hauler and the curious Surveyor out on runs, then watch them lift off and land back at the dock.
  • Every ship gets its own little tab along the bottom of the screen — see who's ready, who's out and who's on the way home at a glance.
  • Each ship has a job — cargo, express or survey — and a look all its own.
  • Bring home blueprint fragments and build new ships from them.
  • Fill in your Codex one ship at a time.

Chart the fog

  • Send ships across a hex map of tiny asteroid outposts and watch the clouds part over places like Scrap Shallows, Fizz Canyon and Chime Ridge.
  • Chart new regions to raise your Survey Rank and make room for more buildings.
  • Now and then, a friendly space whale drifts by.

There are no loot boxes.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Most of the game's 3D models started as AI-generated drafts: the buildings, the ships, the crashed colony ship, the landmarks on the world map and the space whale. We made concept images with an AI image tool, turned them into 3D drafts with AI 3D services (Tripo and Meshy), then reworked every model in Blender: cleaned up, simplified and recolored to the game's palette. The picture cards in the game and our store capsules and library art are renders of these same models.

A few 2D images were made with an AI image tool and then cropped and cleaned up by us: the tutorial pointing hand, the trader badges on the map, and the Steam achievement icons.

The in-game English text and the store description were drafted with the help of an AI writing assistant and edited by us. Store page translations were made with an AI assistant and checked by back-translation.

Not made with generative AI: the island, sky, planets, crystals and visual effects, the helper robots and decorations, the interface and resource icons, and the logo. All music and sound effects come from licensed, human-made libraries (a few simple effects were synthesized with code). The game does not generate anything with AI while you play.
