About This Game

In Evervolt Idle you start with a small plot in the middle of a forest. You put up a few wind turbines and hook them up to a transformer, the power goes to the city and the money comes in. What happens next depends on where you spend it.

Grow your land

You buy the plots next door and clear out the trees and rocks. Every plot has its own kind of ground: the wind blows harder on the hills, you can build hydro plants along the river, and rocky land is good for geothermal. Nuclear plants want water or a cooling tower nearby. Putting the same plants side by side also gets you a bit more power.

You don't have to plan everything out. Even if you build wherever, you keep moving forward. But a tidy layout does make a difference.

The price keeps changing

The city pays more for power in the morning and evening, and less at night. Batteries store the extra power and sell it at the evening peak. The weather changes every few minutes too. Sometimes a storm breaks a few of your turbines, sometimes the city suddenly wants a lot more power and the price shoots up.

Research

The power you deliver slowly brings in research points. Which branches of the research tree you follow is up to you: stronger plants, cheaper plots, better prices, or longer production while the game is closed.

From wind to fusion

Biomass, gas, coal, geothermal, and before long you're on to nuclear. Further on there are fusion reactors, solar satellites beaming power down from orbit, and at the very end a Dyson sphere you build piece by piece.

Starting over

When things slow down, you can do a Grid Reform and start from scratch on a new map. Your money, plants and plots are gone, but your research stays and you earn Volts on top. Volts raise the price of your power for good, so every new start goes faster than the last one.

New regions open up as you reform. The desert has strong sun but no river, the wind blows hard on the North Sea coast, and in the mountains flat land is hard to find.

Your plants keep working after you close the game. When you come back, some money and research points are waiting for you.
