What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“MilBox runs on our own custom DirectX 12 engine, and Early Access lets players help shape the missions, balance and co-op experience as the game grows. It also lets us find hardware, performance and networking issues across far more PCs and connections than a small team can test on its own.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect MilBox to be in Early Access for roughly 12 months, depending on player feedback and how development progresses.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add more missions and islands, more weapons and vehicles, and expanded co-op features. We also plan to broaden graphics options and hardware support (including more upscaler options), add controller support, and keep improving performance and stability. Exact content may change based on community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Playable now: 3 missions, a home base hub, a training range, custom games, 1–4 player online and LAN co-op, career and armory progression, and the level editor. Expect bugs, ongoing balance changes, and performance that is still being tuned, especially on non-NVIDIA hardware. Online co-op is functional but still being tested across a wide range of connections.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we add significant new content and features, so joining during Early Access will be the cheapest way to get the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to use the Steam discussion forums and community hub as the main place for feedback and bug reports. Player feedback will directly guide the roadmap, and we will post regular update notes on Steam explaining what changed and why.”

About This Game

About This Game

MilBox is a squad-based military shooter for 1–4 players, built on its own engine. Every mission follows the same loop: plan it, deploy, fight, then get graded on how you did.

Plan the Op Study the target on a tactical map before you commit. Pick your landing zone, choose your loadout and hire AI marines to fight alongside you, at $2,000 a head. Then go in by helicopter or by boat. Your squad's lives cost money, so plan carefully.

Hit the Objective Destroy enemy comms towers. Plant C4 on transport aircraft before they take off. Take out anti-air sites, enemy tanks and the gunships hunting you from above. Guns alone won't do it, because some targets only fall to explosives.

Destruction That Matters Buildings break apart chunk by chunk, and the pieces fall with real physics. Blow a hole through a wall to make your own entry point, bring a tower down, cut a rope or snap a palm tree. If you can see it, you can probably break it.

Every Mission Graded S to F Your grade adds up six things: speed, accuracy, casualties, optional objectives, destruction and the main objective. A sloppy win still counts, but a clean one earns more funds.

Vehicles Drive armored trucks with a working turret, take command of tanks and pilot boats. The enemy has armor and attack helicopters too.

Co-op for Up to 4 Invite friends through Steam and deploy as one squad, with everyone riding in on the same insertion. Revive downed teammates, call targets in text chat, and get through the mission together.

Career Progression Every mission pays out. Rank up and spend your funds on new weapons, attachments and grenades (frag, Molotov and more). Unlock gear like night-vision goggles and weapon flashlights for night operations.

Level Editor Sculpt terrain, paint grass and trees, place buildings and props, then play your map with the full game: enemies, vehicles, destruction and all.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

MilBox is a military first-person shooter with frequent realistic combat. Players shoot human enemies with modern firearms and explosives (grenades, rockets, C4, Molotovs). Hits produce blood effects and defeated enemies fall as ragdolls. There is no dismemberment or gore. The game includes unmoderated player text chat in online co-op and player-made custom levels.
