About This Game

Hold to race. Lift to corner.

Hold To Race is an arcade racer with one input: the throttle. The car takes the racing line and you own the speed. Hold to go, lift for the corner and time every lift: close the gap, make the pass and take the podium in short championships, or chase a medal and the ghost to beat in Time Trial.

One button, real skill

  • Brake by lifting. The turn arrow warns you of every corner, from fast sweepers to hairpins. Lift late and you run wide. Lift early and the pack goes by.

  • Drift on the throttle. Feed the power through the bend and hold the slide at the edge of grip. You hear the limit in the tyres.

  • Pass in traffic. Every rival keeps their own pace, race after race. Learn who lifts early and take the place.

  • Nail the launch. Hold and lift to keep the revs in the green, and get away clean at GO

Career

Short championship series with prize money, points and upgrades. Start in the Rookie Cup with the Street GT, buy faster cars, hire better drivers and work your way up to the Pro Series. A third series ends with a night finale on Harbour Lights.

Time Trial

Just you, the clock and a ghost.

  • Medals on every track. Bronze, Silver and Gold target times are set for each car, so any car can take Gold.

  • Beat the team ghost. The top medal means beating our own fastest lap in that car.

  • Chase the next medal. From lap 2 a ghost of the next medal time races with you.

  • New paints. Medals unlock six paints for every car.

Want company instead? Quick Race puts any car on any track against the field.

Eight cars, eight drivers

A hot hatch, a muscle car, a rally raider, a 1950s grand tourer, a downforce prototype and more, each with its own engine note. Every driver brings their own cornering, launch and composure, and you choose who takes the wheel.

Places to race

The Test Circuit at sunset, the Speedway Oval under floodlights, Palm Bay Circuit along the seafront and Harbour Lights through the city at night.

Made for a gamepad and Steam Deck

  • Hold the trigger, A or Space. That is the whole control scheme.

  • Prefer finer control? Switch the trigger to analogue in the settings.

  • Every menu works on a gamepad, and the screen layout fits Steam Deck.

  • Races take a few minutes, and a Career round fits a coffee break.

One price

No ads, no microtransactions, no timers. Buy it once and race.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

The music was created with an AI music tool (Google's Lyria) and selected and edited by us. The eight driver portraits were made with an AI image tool (Google's Nano Banana). We also used AI images as early concept references. The cars, tracks and scenery are built by us in code and 3D, and the engine sounds are synthesised in the game.
