About This Game

We lit the old stones. Something noticed.

A thousand years ago the empire of Perpetua measured this continent, raised the Obelisks, and then went still. Its cities are ruins now, and its citizens still walk them, unable to finish the sentences they started when everything stopped. Now ships are landing again in the ports your ancestors fled. You are on one of them, part of The Return, coming back to a land nobody remembers.

Stillmarch is a dark medieval sandbox MMO about what happens next. Houses wake the Obelisks, build on Perpetua's foundations, trade and feud. But the brighter and more ordered the world becomes, the easier it is for the Stillness to find it.

Houses, not heroes

Stillmarch is played between people. Found a House or swear yourself to one. Hold three regions and your House rules a Barony; bind Baronies together and crown a King, chosen by vote and never safe on the throne. Sign alliances and break them, declare wars and end them, and live with what the Chronicles write about you, because they keep everything, betrayals included.

Not every House wants a crown. Some sell their swords to whoever pays and march under other banners. Some run caravans and grow rich on everyone else's wars. Some found a faith: there are no proven gods here, only relics cut from things that stood too long where they should not have, and the temples that know what they are worth.

Fight up close

The fighting is close and over the shoulder. Every swing is yours to aim: read the enemy, step out of the blow, and keep enough breath for the next one. There are no classes. Every weapon has its own level and its own skills, and any one-handed weapon can be paired with an off-hand of your choosing, so the way you fight is your own.

Take up a two-handed sword fueled by Fervor, a sword and shield that keeps enemies on you, a healing staff, or a bow whose arrows you pick back up. The Forgotten walk the old roads, bandits wait in the ditches and wolves hunt in the dark. Deeper in, in the forests that swallowed Perpetua's cities, the creatures of Slavic and Germanic legend are still waiting. The drowned lie under the reeds for anyone who comes too close to the water.

Gather, craft, build

Fell the trees, break ore out of the hills, gather herbs at the forest's edge and skin what you hunt. Keep your Focus up and every piece you make teaches you more. Then raise your settlement stone by stone, and hire Wayfarers to keep its workshops running.

Claim the land

In every region an Obelisk stands dark. Wake it, and the land answers to your House. Then hold it, because rivals can declare war, lay siege and take it from you. Trade face to face, with the gold on the table between you. And mind where you fall: in allied and neutral lands you lose only your pack, but in hostile land they take everything, down to the armor on your back.

A world that moves

Day gives way to night, and rain sweeps in over the hills. Where the Blight has taken hold, a violet haze settles, ash drifts down like snow, and even the music falls silent. And over all of it hangs a cracked moon.

No pay-to-win.
