About This Game

In 2004, the people of Kursk made a living however they could. Some sold goods at the local market, others dealt in pirated CDs, and a few borrowed money from the first two groups and were never seen again.

You, on the other hand, have been left with a kiosk, five products, and a sales quota to meet.

Kursk Kiosk is a roguelike about running a small business in provincial Russia in the early 2000s. You'll be buying and selling goods, combining products, and occasionally talking to people (unfortunately, if you're an introvert, but fortunately, you can turn that off in the settings).

In this roguelike, you can:

  • Build your inventory from 150 different products.

  • Combine products on a 20-slot board, making them generate money and boost each other.

  • Purchase upgrades for your kiosk.

  • Meet your sales quotas.

  • Engage in conversations without being given any dialogue choices.

  • Indulge your gambling addiction by watching the reels spin to find out how your workday went.

And meet some of the local residents:

  • Artur the Director. At just 13 years old, he's already running a business. What he plans to do after graduating from school remains a mystery. Perhaps get an education.

  • San Sanych. An inspector who believes that properly completed paperwork is of the utmost importance. Even if the paperwork concerns something completely ridiculous.

  • Romka Bolvanka. A specialist in duplicating pirated CDs. He regularly mixes up the recordings, giving customers the opportunity to discover music and other works they never intended to buy.

And plenty of other wonderful people who will occasionally require your attention.

Other features include:

  • Autumn in Kursk, circa 2004. Concrete apartment blocks, old cars, and weather that, unlike business, occasionally takes a turn for the better.

  • Hand-drawn black-and-white characters. We didn't bother coloring them because we spent all the colors on the backgrounds.

  • The ability to start over after yet another financial disaster. In real life, that feature tends to cost a lot more.

The best way to support the game's development is to add it to your Steam wishlist.
