What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We plan to use Early Access to gather player feedback on observation, understanding clues and manipulating mechanisms. This will help us refine the controls, readability and hints while continuing work on the full game. Our goal for launch is a coherent first chapter built around eight puzzle objects, with an introduction, a conclusion and tested save-and-resume behaviour. That chapter is still in preparation.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Roughly four months after the Early Access launch. This is our best estimate, not a fixed release date: completing the planned objects, testing full playthroughs and addressing player feedback may extend it. We will announce any change in our development updates.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our goal for the full version is at least forty puzzle objects, compared with the eight planned for the first Early Access chapter. We intend to expand exploration of the house and the story of its former owner’s life, with more objects and their own mechanisms. For now, we are focusing on English and French. Other languages are planned: we intend to translate the game into most of the languages commonly used on Steam for the final release. These are development goals, not content that has already been delivered. We are not promising the same number of puzzles for every object.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is currently in internal development. The development builds include house exploration, an inventory, inspection and zoom for selected objects, a flashlight, small viewpoint adjustments during interactions, numbered envelopes, progressive hints and local saves. Some object and save-and-resume sequences have been tested separately. However, the revised eight-object chapter, its complete save system and its end-to-end playthrough still need to be finished and tested. There is not yet a finalised commercial build that meets this Early Access goal.

Please note: Last Will is a game in active development. At this stage, unfinished parts, rough edges and bugs are to be expected, and that is normal: the game is being built step by step, and Early Access is part of that work. By buying the game in Early Access, you acknowledge that it is not finished and that some parts may change, be incomplete or not work as intended. If you run into a bug, we apologise in advance, and we would be grateful if you reported it so that we can fix it.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to price the full release higher than the initial Early Access version, reflecting the additional content and the game’s development. We will announce price changes before they take effect.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will gather feedback through the game’s Steam discussions and our support contact: unclear clues or interactions, readability issues and technical difficulties. Your feedback will help us choose fixes and development priorities. We will publish news with each significant update to explain the changes made.”

About This Game

Traces of a life

1979. You have been asked to catalogue the home of a recently deceased clockmaker. Chests, furniture and mechanisms have been carefully kept. Through these objects, fragments of the past gradually form a more personal portrait of the man who lived here.

Observation and mechanical puzzles

The adventure takes shape through mechanical actions: watching a part move, understanding what holds it in place and working out how to proceed. The shapes and details of objects are part of the puzzle. Examining small objects offers a closer look at details that might escape a first glance.

A house to explore

The search for clues leads through the rooms of the house, collected objects and numbered envelopes. Recovered documents give context to the mechanisms and a place to memories. The project combines puzzles built around handling objects with an intimate story, uncovering a life through what it left behind.

A game in development

The first Early Access chapter is planned around eight puzzle objects and is still in preparation. For the full version, our goal is at least forty puzzle objects and a continuation of the house’s story. These figures describe development goals, not content that is already available.

As in any Early Access game, unfinished parts and bugs are to be expected while the game is being built; if you run into one, we apologise and would be grateful if you reported it. For now, the game is available in English and French; other languages are planned for the final release.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Generative AI tools have been used during development to create promotional illustrations, some material textures, including wood and paper, used on objects and scenery in the game, and the game’s music, generated with ACE Studio. These images and tracks are generated in advance. AI assistants have also helped with writing and translating text. The game does not generate AI content during play and does not connect to any external AI service.
