About This Demo

Phonophobia is a retro PSX-style psychological survival horror game where sound, silence, and observation determine your survival.

This standalone demo serves as a 15–25 minute interactive vertical slice, throwing you directly into the opening sequence of the nightmare. Awaken with fractured memories, navigate oppressive darkness with a decaying flashlight, and use your wits to overcome tactile mechanical puzzles before the anomaly claims you.

Story:

You regain consciousness along a forgotten rural railway track beside a ruined station. Disoriented and plagued by severe memory loss, you must venture through the pitch-black facility and investigate the deserted approach to an abandoned anomaly.

In this demo, every footstep matters and every shadow hides secrets. As your sanity begins to slip, reality distorts around you—and you will quickly realize that you are far from alone.

Key Features

  • The Prologue & Zone 01: Explore the desolate railway approach, train station interiors, and foggy rural paths leading to the abandoned research house.

  • Tactile Mechanical Puzzles: Scavenge fuel with a jerry can, refuel the diesel generator, replace circuit vacuum tubes, and align numerical switchboards to restore power.

  • Diegetic Code Cracking: Search for clues left in environmental notes and type terminal passwords to bypass secure coded doors.

  • Authentic PSX Horror Atmosphere: Retro pixel-grid rendering, CRT scanline glitches, dynamic sanity distortions, and tense 3D stereoscopic audio design.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

This game contains depictions of psychological horror, disturbing themes, and sudden jump scares. Players will encounter dimly lit environments with blood decals, environmental corpses, skeletons, and distressing audio cues. The storyline involves the aftermath of a catastrophic strike on an evacuation train and stalking by a supernatural entity.
