What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access lets us gather real player data on play patterns, strategies, and feature usage so we can properly balance systems and refine mechanics that are hard to tune in closed testing. We want active players to help us identify what feels good, what’s over or under-powered, and which features need the most work before the full release. This is a focused polishing and balancing phase rather than a content-heavy development period.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Roughly 5 months (targeting around March 2027, depending on the volume and nature of player feedback). We expect most of the major balancing and feature tuning to be complete in that window, though we will extend it if community data shows key systems still need significant iteration.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will include:

Fully tuned balance values for all core systems (based on aggregated player data from Early Access)

Polished and refined versions of existing features that are currently functional but rough
[Cosmetics, rewards, iterative progression options carrying over to new runs, unlocks]

Bug fixes and performance improvements driven by live player reports

Players should expect the Early Access version to be fully playable with the core loop intact, but with systems that are intentionally still being tuned and some planned content/features not yet present.

We will update this section as major pieces ship.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully functional and playable right now. Core gameplay loops, main systems, and the primary experience described in the About This Game section are implemented.

Current limitations / rough edges:

Balance is still being actively tuned (some systems may feel over- or under-powered)
[UI polish, transitions, music and sound effects]

We recommend checking the About This Game section and recent update notes for the most accurate picture of what’s currently available.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We do not plan to raise the price when the game leaves Early Access.

Early Access buyers will keep the same price they paid and receive all planned content and improvements at no extra cost.

”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback and data will directly influence balancing and feature priorities. We will:

Collect anonymized play data on build effectiveness, strategies, and system usage to guide balance changes

Actively monitor and respond to feedback on the Steam Discussions / Community Hub

Share regular development updates highlighting what player input changed and what’s coming next

Player reports and observed play patterns will shape which systems get priority tuning and which features receive the most attention before 1.0.”

About This Game

Raking Fire is an indie built asynchronous PVP space shooter.

Choose your race, ships, character and battle against people across the world to dominate the leaderboard.

Raking Fire was built solo with my family providing much needed support throughout. The whole Felari race was a direct instruction from my daughter.

We are a family 2nd job company based in Somerset UK.

The aim was to take a simple fun concept and take it a lot deeper, gameplay is king.

As this is a solo build,  the sounds, music and artwork is as good as I could get with a near zero budget and not slamming everything through generative AI
