About This Game

Go down. Bring it back, or lose it.

Jarnvard is a dungeon crawler about deciding when to stop. You fight your way through a floor, kill the boss that holds the stair, and then make the choice the whole game is built on: one floor deeper, where everything is worth more, or the portal home while you still have what you found.

Everything you carry is at risk until you bank it in the city. Die, and it is gone. Bank it, and it is yours for good.

Every run starts at level 1

You level inside the run, spend a talent point at every level, and pick boons off the bosses you kill. There are 130 of them, and a book records every one you have found. When the run ends, the levels, the talents and the boons end with it. Your gear stays. Gear decides which dungeon you can survive; the run is what you build on top of it.

Four dungeons, and the one under them

The Stockade, the Deadworks, Oxenhold and the Barrows each lie under their own region, with their own enemies, bosses and loot. Clear floor 10 and the next region opens. In the Barrows, the bosses you already killed come back. And under all this there is the Undercroft, where one boss waits on every floor: the Portalwright, which wears the attacks of the bosses you killed, in the body of the last one.

Two classes, three ways each

The Warrior builds Rage as he fights and spends it on every ability. The Mage builds Overload with every spell, and at maximum she is locked out. Each has 17 abilities to build from and three basic attacks that change how the class plays.

A city to come home to

Stonegate has a vault for everything you bank, a counting house that pays full price for what you bring home, a forge, a trainer, an enchanter, a barber, and a board of contracts: pay gold to make the enemies harder, and the run pays you something gold cannot buy.

Played with a controller or a mouse

Every screen works on a controller, and every key can be rebound.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Some character and equipment models were generated with an AI 3D tool and then rigged, recoloured and edited by hand. The icons were designed with AI tools and drawn in code, and the game's text was written with AI assistance and edited by the developer. Environments use asset packs made by people, sound effects come from a sound pack recorded by people, and the music is synthesised by the game's own code. No AI generates anything while you play.
