Work the night shift for a backwoods radio station. With up to three friends, drive a battered 80s news van into the woods, plant microphones and tape broadcasts that shouldn't exist. Stay close and stay quiet: something out there is listening, and it has learned your voices.

About This Game

The night shift nobody wants

KVOID is a co-op horror game for 1–4 players, set in the 1980s. You are the field crew of a small radio station that pays good money for strange signals. Every night you drive the station van into the woods, start the generator and go looking for broadcasts that should not be on the air.

Hunt the signal

  • Sweep the woods with a handheld scanner to find where the signal is strongest.
  • Plant tripod microphones around the source to lock onto the transmission.
  • Run the van. One of you stays at the operator console to tune the frequency, watch the radar and record everything to tape.
  • Keep in touch by walkie-talkie. The signal fades with distance, so wander too far and your crew turns to static.

Something is listening

  • Proximity voice chat. Everything you say carries through the trees. So do footsteps, heavy breathing and a running generator.
  • The Mimic learns your crew's voices and uses them. That call for help on the radio might not be your friend.
  • Things in the dark stalk you, watch you and lay siege to the van. Crouch, keep quiet and keep a flare ready.

Sell the tape, upgrade the van

  • Upload your recordings through the station uplink for VOIDcoins.
  • Complete work orders to earn the station's trust and raise your clearance.
  • Order gear straight to the van: tripods, scanners, a boombox, a flare gun, a radio direction finder and more.

Features

  • Online co-op for 1–4 players with Steam invites
  • Proximity voice and walkie-talkie radio
  • A monster that imitates your friends' voices
  • Every night is different: fog, rain, moon phase and signal locations change
  • Low-poly 1980s look through a VHS broadcast filter

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

KVOID is a horror game with dark settings, frightening imagery and jump scares. Monsters stalk, chase and kill player characters; deaths are not graphic and there is no blood or gore. One creature imitates the voices of other players, which some players may find unsettling. The game includes proximity voice chat between players, which is not moderated.
