About This Content

Old empires endure. New powers rise.

Build a different kind of empire in New Blood, Old Empires, an expansion for Embersong: History Is Yours. Lead eight additional civilizations, reshape your government as knowledge advances, and entrust your growing cities to governors whose priorities you control. Beyond the familiar borders, new worlds—and ancient threats—await.

Eight civilizations. New ways to rule.

Play as Britain, the United States, Brazil, Mali, Switzerland, Transylvania, the Aztecs and Russia. Each brings distinct abilities, leaders and Civilization Promises, with 16 new units across the expansion. Settle mountain strongholds and recruit mercenaries as Switzerland, or raise Transylvania’s vampires and build crypts that let fallen warriors return.

Shape the state. Guide every city.

Discover 22 governments through research, from the Ancient era to the Future. Weigh their benefits and tradeoffs, reform as your strategy changes, and return to earlier forms when they suit your empire.

Unlock local governors through Writing. Set city priorities, choose their focus and control their spending with budgets and treasury reserves. Governors respect your manual orders, helping manage a growing civilization while you decide its direction.

Explore new worlds. Confront old legends.

Chart three new map types: Inland Sea, Great Divide and Frontier World. In Frontier World, every civilization begins on the old continent, leaving a new frontier to discover.

Face mythic campaign opponents with their own research paths, including an encounter with Dracula. Original and Expansion campaigns keep separate campaign slots and autosaves, so you can pursue both histories.
