A dynamic blend of historical 4X turn-based strategy and roguelike discovery!  From prehistory to a futuristic age, grow your empire in a massive campaign that includes multiple playthroughs. Embersong: History Is Yours harkens back to the feel of grand strategy gaming in the '90s while infusing new elements to innovate the genre. Enjoy sprite-based game design fused with modern strategy elements. 

Go beyond just one match with the campaign

Infinite replayability is a hallmark of the 4X genre, and the cornerstone of the Embersong experience as it weaves roguelike elements into the experience! The epic campaign requires five matches to be completed, win or lose. As you guide your early wandering band of explorers into a mighty empire across eight ages (eg, Classical, Medieval, Industrial), you will gather bonuses that accumulate with each playthrough. Your performance in those five matches will dictate the difficulty you encounter in the final sixth match, where you must utilize your built up enhancements as you face off against an overpowered mythical force! With six possible end-game bosses, you must quickly grow your empire and overcome your opponent's unrestrained power. Should you win the campaign, the boss mythical empire is unlocked for future playthroughs.

Face off against the greatest empires of history...and legend

Lead Rome, Egypt, China, Babylon, Greece, Japan, Cahokia, India, France, Mongolia, Venice, or the Inca — each with its own leader, era-specific units, buildings, music, and cultural ambitions.  Many empires have unique play-styles such as Mongolia's single-city rule and Venice's ability to expand by purchasing barbarian settlements and opponent cities. Then play the final match of the campaign against mythical boss empires such as Atlantis, Shangri-La, the Kingdom of Prester John, and the Seven Cities of Gold. 

One of your opponents is not playing the same game as you

Each match, one opponent empire will be designated the Archenemy, and receive multiple bonuses and abilities. This is bad news for you, because the Archenemy has a single purpose: To hunt you down and destroy your fledgling empire! Fend off against your regular opponents that seek to win by domination, science or score victory, as well as a nation bent on only attacking you at every turn.

Late-Game Innovation

Every civilization has an era-appropriate special unit, from the War Chariot that Egypt unlocks in the Ancient-Era, to the Galleass vessels of Renaissance-Era Venice. Embersong takes this approach further by providing each empire (including the mythic ones!) a Future-Era unit that is unique to them. From the Cyber-Ninjas of Japan to the Condor Wing aircraft of the Inca, survival in the endgame becomes fast-paced and like nothing you've seen before!

AI tools were used during development to create pre-generated content. The game's text was translated from English into 16 additional languages using AI translation with automated consistency review. Game artwork and the soundtrack were created by the developer using generative AI tools; every asset was individually reviewed and curated before inclusion. Store page assets (screenshots, trailer, capsule art) depict or derive from this same game content. The game contains no live/runtime AI generation — all content is fixed at build time, and the game runs fully offline.
