Land on an untouched planet and build a factory colony that reaches the stars. Harvest, haul and produce without conveyor belts, launch rockets to orbit and the Moon, wake your colonists, defend against what lives here, and rebuild the broken colony Ark to finish the journey.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Planet Sim is playable from landing on the planet to rebuilding the Ark, and we want players involved while there's still a lot to shape. Early Access lets us tune the core gameplay with real feedback and decide together which features and content come next, especially new ways to make more of the big planet.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About 12–18 months. The biggest item on the roadmap is multiplayer, both co-op and 1v1 / 2v2 battles, and we'd rather take the time to get it right with players than rush it.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“- Balance, polish and gameplay changes based on player feedback
- More to find across the planet: new biomes, resources and landmarks
- Bigger threats and combat: refined enemies, more RTS-style units and more tower-defence style colony defence
- Deeper building and gameplay in orbit and on the Moon
- Multiplayer: co-op on one planet, and 1v1 / 2v2 battles
- Blueprints, weather and disasters, terrain editing and vertical building
- Steam Achievements, more languages and Steam Deck support”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The full game is playable start to finish, a 50+ hour playthrough: land on a procedural planet, build a factory colony, launch into orbit, set up on the Moon and rebuild the Ark. It includes 100+ buildings, 180+ items, a tech tree of 140+ techs, colonists, logistics by road, rail, sea and air, and RTS-style combat against three enemy factions.

Some parts are still early. The planet has room for a lot more content, combat and enemies are a first version, and space and Moon building will get deeper. Multiplayer isn't in yet. Expect balance changes and the occasional bug as we update, and a big update may sometimes need a new game.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will likely go up as major features like multiplayer arrive. Buying in Early Access gets you every update for free, and we have no plans for paid DLC during Early Access.
”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Your feedback decides a lot of what we build next. We'll keep the roadmap public and run polls on Steam and Discord about what to prioritise. Big new systems like multiplayer will go to an opt-in beta branch first, so we can adjust them before everyone gets them. In the game, press F8 to send a bug report or idea without leaving, and patch notes will say what changed because of your feedback.”

About This Game

Your colony ship, the Ark, broke apart in orbit. You land on a procedurally generated planet with a rover, a lander and a plan. The planet is filled with savannas, rainforests, deserts, glaciers and volcanoes, rivers and seas, and day and night, and every seed makes a new one. Build a factory colony across it, launch the parts back up, and rebuild the Ark.

Biomes, rivers, ore deposits and landmarks land somewhere new on every seed, so no two starts play the same. Pick a preset or set the world rules yourself, from a relaxed sandbox to a tougher run.

Drones harvest, haulers drive the roads between Logistics Hubs, and freight trains, ships and cargo planes link your far-off outposts. Route everything through hubs, or link buildings directly.

Build a Launch Pad and Mission Control, put stations in orbit and set up an outpost on the Moon. Keep it supplied, and send cargo up with a mass driver.

Colonists come down from the Ark in pods. They need homes and food from your farms, fisheries and kitchens, and many buildings won't run without a crew.

Hold your base with walls, turrets and shields, or train squads and take the fight to enemy camps. Native fauna, the Reclaimers and the Skarn each fight differently.

The long goal. Every system you build feeds it: factories make the parts, rockets carry them up, and the Ark comes back together piece by piece.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

I'm a solo developer with a software background. I designed and built Planet Sim's code and systems myself, and used AI tools to fill the gaps in my skills, mainly art.

- Buildings: the building models and textures started from AI tools. I reviewed each one by hand, reworked it, and tested it in the game until it fit.
- Icons: I rendered the item and building icons myself in Blender.
- Voice: the guide's spoken lines are made with AI text-to-speech, using a commercially licensed voice.
- Everything else: music, sound effects, UI and visual effects are licensed from human artists (mostly through the Unity Asset Store) and credited in the game.
- While you play: the game doesn't generate anything with AI.
