Land on an untouched planet and build a factory colony that reaches the stars. Harvest, haul and produce without conveyor belts, launch rockets to orbit and the Moon, wake your colonists, defend against what lives here, and rebuild the broken colony Ark to finish the journey.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The core gameplay loop is done and a player can play from start to finish, but a lot of mechanics and content are not built yet, and even the core loop isn't where we want it. We want to use the community for feedback and iteration on the core gameplay, and to help decide the direction of new mechanics and features. The planet, for instance, is currently very underused. We have lots of ideas and want to work out with players which additions would be most enjoyable to properly fill out the world.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About 12–18 months. The core loop is in and the game can be played start to finish, but there's a roadmap of features still to add, the biggest being multiplayer (co-op and battles). Part of Early Access is finding out whether that content is fun and iterating on it with players.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“- Balance and polish on the core loop and mechanics. This release is a first version; we want to iterate with players on what works and what doesn't.
- Much more content to fill the planet, which is quite empty right now: more biomes, and unique resources found only in specific places.
- A much larger threats and enemies system. What exists now is an early, alpha version.
- More building in space and on the Moon. The late game is thin: there's enough to finish the game but no depth yet.
- The big one: multiplayer. co-op, where players build together on the same planet, and battles, where players start bases on opposite sides of the planet.
- Smaller additions: steam achievements, more languages, steam deck support, etc.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core gameplay loop is in and the game is playable from start to finish, but it's hollow in depth. All building categories exist (harvesting, logistics, production, power, colonists, research, rockets, orbit, the Moon, RTS defence) so a player can reach the end.
- Lots of content is missing. The world is hollow until new biomes and resources fill it out.
- The core loop is there but subject to changes.
- No multiplayer yet. That work hasn't started.
- The threats/enemies system hasn't been expanded yet.
- Space and Moon building haven't been expanded yet.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may rise as major content such as multiplayer is added, but early access buyers get every update at no extra cost and there will be no plans for paid dlc while in early access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Players will help decide what gets built next. We'll share the roadmap openly and run polls on Steam and Discord about which features to prioritise (new biomes, threats, space content, multiplayer modes). New systems like co-op and battles will go to an opt-in beta branch first so we can change them based on how they actually play. On top of that, the in-game feedback key (F8) and an optional survey let players report problems and ideas without leaving the game, and every update gets patch notes saying what changed because of feedback.”

About This Game

Your colony ship, the Ark, broke apart in orbit. You land on a procedurally generated planet with a rover, a lander and a plan. The planet is filled with savannas, rainforests, deserts, glaciers and volcanoes, rivers and seas, and day and night, and every seed makes a new one. Build a factory colony across it, launch the parts back up, and rebuild the Ark.

Biomes, rivers, ore deposits and landmarks land somewhere new on every seed, so no two starts play the same. Pick a preset or set the world rules yourself, from a relaxed sandbox to a tougher run.

Drones harvest, haulers drive the roads between Logistics Hubs, and freight trains, ships and cargo planes link your far-off outposts. Route everything through hubs, or link buildings directly.

Build a Launch Pad and Mission Control, put stations in orbit and set up an outpost on the Moon. Keep it supplied, and send cargo up with a mass driver.

Colonists come down from the Ark in pods. They need homes and food from your farms, fisheries and kitchens, and many buildings won't run without a crew.

Hold your base with walls, turrets and shields, or train squads and take the fight to enemy camps. Native fauna, the Reclaimers and the Skarn each fight differently.

The long goal. Every system you build feeds it: factories make the parts, rockets carry them up, and the Ark comes back together piece by piece.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

I'm a solo indie developer. My background is in software, and I've built everything in Planet Sim myself to the best of my abilities, using AI to fill the gaps in my skill set, mostly artwork.

- Art: the majority of the game's art assets and 3D models were generated with AI tools. I review each asset by hand and iterated on it until it fits the game.
- Voice, music, sound effects, interface, UI/icons, vfx/sfx: essentially everything else is bought and license from real artists (Unity Asset Store) and listed in the game's credits. The voice specifically was licensed and text-to-speech tools used for spoken lines.
- While you play: the game does not generate any content with AI.
