Crew a starship with up to three friends. Fly its fighters, man its guns, board enemy ships and rob them blind, and carry each other home. Or throw each other out of the hangar. Friendly fire is on. The feed remembers who did it.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Far Company is playable start to finish: a full run to the hunters' flagship, six kits, seven carriers, solo or with up to three friends. We want players' help tuning it: the balance of the guns, the kits and the carriers, and which jobs are fun to come back to.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About a year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add more sectors and jobs, more enemies and ace hunters, more carriers and kits, and to keep balancing the game around your runs.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Every part of a run is in: the carrier and its crew stations, fighters and spacewalking, boarding ships on foot, hacking, loot and upgrades, the hunters and the final assault.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to raise the price when Far Company leaves Early Access. Everyone who buys it during Early Access gets every update at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through our Discord (linked on this page) and the Steam forums: tell us what's broken, what's too easy and what isn't fun yet. Most of what changes in Early Access (the balance of the guns, kits and carriers, and which jobs come next) will come from your runs. Press F8 in game to save the last 20 seconds as a clip and share your best and worst moments. We plan to run playtests of big updates with the community before they ship.”

About This Game

Far Company is a co-op space shooter for one to four friends: a starship, its fighters, a hangar full of bad ideas, and a run across a hostile sector to take down the hunters' flagship.

Talk to your crew on proximity voice, or over the radio when they're out of earshot (it crackles, and cuts out when they're lost in space). Every kill, rescue and accident is in the feed, with a name next to it.

Your carrier is yours to run. Someone takes the helm. Someone mans the main gun. Someone scrambles a fighter out of the hangar and goes hunting. Someone's spacewalking on the hull, and nobody's sure why.

  • Seven carriers, each with its own decks, stations and tricks, unlocked as you go.

  • Fly the fighters in its hangar, claim one, and fit it with the parts you find.

  • Plan the route on the sector map: raiders, salvage, convoys, outposts, traders. Ace hunters, named and dangerous, are waiting on some of them.

  • Don't dawdle. The hunters are always five minutes behind you.

Beam aboard their ships and take them room by room. Hack their computers (fast fingers, no luck involved), crack the vault, and loot everything that isn't bolted down. Guns drop in rarities from white to orange, and the weird ones are very weird.

Down isn't out. Get to them, get them up, or throw them over your shoulder and carry them out under fire.

Friendly fire is on. Your friends can be carried, set down gently, or thrown. Physics does the rest.

At the end of every run, the hunters' flagship. It drags your carrier in with its tractor beam. Breach it, overload its core, and get out before it goes.

  • 1–4 player online co-op (or solo), through Steam: invite friends, or join theirs.

  • Six kits: Ace, Marksman, Roboticist, Warden, Phantom and Engineer. Each makes you better at something, and makes the carrier better at it too.

  • Over 30 guns, upgrade cards in five rarities, and a new run every time.

  • Proximity and radio voice chat, emotes, ragdolls, carrying and throwing.

  • Instant replay: press F8 to save the last 20 seconds as a video.

  • 100 achievements, Steam Cloud saves, full controller support, and a native Linux build for the Steam Deck.
