What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Mox Nox is incomplete and still in active development. The current version provides the foundation of its combat and progression, but it does not yet contain the full range of content and experiences we intend for the game.

We are entering Early Access so players can experience the current game and help shape its development. We plan to add more bosses and enemy types, expand the narrative, introduce new modes and abilities, and consider additional features based on player feedback and our creative direction. Our goal is responsive combat with fluid transitions between movement, attacks and defensive actions. Existing mechanics, content and presentation are also subject to revision.

Alongside those additions, we plan to refine combat timing, enemy behavior, ability balance and progression, while addressing bugs, performance problems and usability issues. Feedback through Steam Discussions will help us identify problems and prioritize improvements. We plan to share monthly development updates as we work toward completing the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Mox Nox to remain in Early Access for roughly 16–24 months after its Early Access launch. During that period, we plan to develop more bosses, expanded narrative, new modes and additional abilities while refining the existing combat and progression. This is our current estimate and may change as development progresses and player feedback shapes the scope.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand Mox Nox with additional bosses, new enemy types, expanded narrative, new game modes and new abilities that broaden your options in combat. Our aim is to give new encounters their own identity through distinctive attacks, behaviors, and mechanics. Alongside these additions, we intend to continue improving combat responsiveness, balance, presentation, performance, and usability, informed by player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Mox Nox currently offers a repeatable combat experience featuring 5 unique major bosses, 8 miniboss variants, and 31 regular-enemy variants across 8 archetypes. The roster brings together different fighting styles, melee and ranged threats, and major encounters with their own signature attacks and mechanics.

Players can develop their character through attribute upgrades and unlockable abilities, combining sword combat with supernatural powers, perfect parries, dodges, counters, and executions.

Every aspect of the game remains subject to refinement throughout Early Access, including its systems, content, visuals, and balance. We currently expect existing progression to remain compatible with updates and have no planned progression resets.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price during Early Access as we add substantial content and features. We expect the full-release price to be higher than the initial Early Access price. Any planned price increases will be announced in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Steam Discussions will be our main channel for gathering feedback, bug reports, and suggestions. We welcome players’ experiences with combat and balance, as well as ideas for new enemies, bosses, abilities, and encounters they would like to face.
This feedback will help inform development priorities while preserving Mox Nox’s overall direction. We plan to post monthly development updates covering progress, current priorities, and how community feedback is influencing the game.”

About This Game

Mox Nox is a dark fantasy action experience that brings precision combat and brutal spectacle together. Cut through enemy waves, confront powerful bosses, and claim the souls that awaken your inherited power.

They destroyed her empire. But they failed to end her bloodline. You are the last Reaper, heir to a civilization that brought entire realms to their knees. Now an unexpected alliance of former enemies and adversaries hunts you across the realms. Aboard the last fragment of your homeland, you guard a secret that could restore everything they fought to destroy.

THE LAST REAPER. ENEMY OF ALL.

Introducing the Combat Intent System:

Enemies respond to how you fight, exploiting missed attacks and adjusting their approach as your habits emerge. Repeating the same tactics can leave you vulnerable. Survival demands adaptability, and familiar tactics offer no certainty against what awaits.

TURN PRECISION INTO BRUTALITY.

Meet a killing blow with a perfect parry. Slip past a devastating attack and answer with a counter. Chain charges, sword strikes and aerial attacks into bloody executions. Your timing creates the opening. Your blade decides what follows.

YOUR BLOODLINE IS YOUR WEAPON.

Summon phantoms to fight at your side and mirror abilities you have unlocked. Bring your enemies almost to a standstill with time stop, land your attacks, then let the accumulated damage strike when time returns.

FACE THE ALLIANCE.

Your opponents share one purpose: ending your bloodline. Battle through their ranks and face bosses with distinct attacks and supernatural powers. Read their movements, punish their mistakes, and turn overwhelming force against them.

DEATH FEEDS YOUR POWER.

Claim Soul Fragments to strengthen your attributes. Earn Empowered Souls to unlock abilities and new ways to fight. Invest your rewards, and enter the next encounter with more ways to kill. Defeat preserves your earned progression. Unleash a sweeping Crescent through clustered enemies and leave a trail of severed bodies. The alliance wants your bloodline erased. Make them feed it instead.

CURRENT EARLY ACCESS CONTENT:

The current Early Access version focuses on single-player, repeatable arena battles, featuring five major bosses and eight miniboss variants. Fight through enemy assaults, earn rewards, and strengthen your character between attempts through attribute upgrades and unlockable abilities. Earned progression remains with you after defeat.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Mox Nox contains frequent graphic fantasy violence, including bloody melee combat, dismemberment, executions, severed body parts and persistent corpses. Some supernatural abilities explode or consume corpses.
Characters wear revealing outfits, with suggestive character designs, body physics and camera framing that emphasizes their bodies.
The story includes themes of conquest, mass killing, enslavement and the destruction of civilizations. The protagonist belongs to a bloodline that gains power through killing and consuming souls.
