You don't play the survivors – you are the horde. Grow your zombie outbreak through a living pixel-art city, conquer district after district and decide for every survivor you catch: devour or infect? But the faster you grow, the sooner the cleanup squad arrives.

About This Game

You are the horde.

In We Are The Horde you don't lead survivors through the apocalypse – you are the apocalypse. A single shambler crawls out of a manhole and grows into a flood that visibly staggers through the streets of a pixel-art city. Every zombie you add actually walks the streets – and every one you see fall is really gone from your horde.

Grow – but not too loud.

Seven zombie types, from the Shambler to the Alpha, produce biomass to grow your horde even further. Each one has its role: the Axe Thrower hurls its axe from afar, the Crawler bursts out of the sewers right in the middle of a fight. But growth makes noise. As the alarm rises, the city strikes back: police patrols open fire, survivors grab their baseball bats, cleanup squads thin out your horde. And if you conquer too much too fast, the Director steps in – with Special Ops or a Mass Raid.

Devour or infect?

Again and again your horde corners a survivor. Let them be devoured for instant biomass. Or click to infect them: a new zombie for good – but someone reports them missing, and suspicion rises.

Conquer the city – and hold it.

Nine districts, from the City Park to the Police HQ. Each one that falls grants its own reward, and your horde visibly moves in. But the neighboring city sends reinforcements through the gate: soldiers take back humans, smoke out your nests and even retake fallen districts. Part of your horde defends them on its own – while your attack goes on. Once the city has fallen, your horde breaks quarantine and moves on to the next one, taking its mutations along.

Choose where the horde breaks through.

New zombies crawl out of the sewers. Every manhole your horde reaches can be turned into a zombie nest for biomass – and from then on, reinforcements pour out of the nest you choose, even right into a fight. Place it next to the district you're attacking, and it falls faster.

For a quick break or a long evening.

We Are The Horde keeps going without you: when you come back, your horde has kept feeding for up to eight hours – but the city has fought back, too. If you keep watching, you can catch looters for random loot, pick your targets wisely and hunt for 33 achievements. Two difficulty levels: Normal for the game as intended, Hard for veterans.
