What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Please Stay Dead is already a complete, endlessly replayable tower defense: waves never stop, and every run feeds a large permanent talent tree. What we want to get right with players is the long game: how the late waves, bosses and talent builds feel after dozens of hours, and which balance numbers need to change. Early Access lets us tune the endgame, bosses and economy together with the people who play the most, and add the content they ask for.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Early Access to last roughly 3 to 6 months. The exact length depends on player feedback and on how much of the planned content we add before the full release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to:
add Events: special challenge runs with their own rules and rewards (the menu button is already there);
add more maps, more undead types and more boss abilities;
expand the talent tree and add new towers and abilities;
balance the late game (wave 100 and beyond) and the economy based on player data;
polish visuals, sound and effects, and improve performance for very large hordes;
add more languages, depending on demand.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable from the first wave to the late game:
21 maps, each with its own record, fate coin milestones and a Steam leaderboard;
9 tower types plus mining drills, 6 active abilities and a talent tree of over 200 talents in three branches;
a swarm of thousands of undead at once, with diggers that tunnel through rock, and 6 bosses with their own tricks;
elements, adaptive horde resistance, elemental combos, run cards every 25 waves and difficulty modifiers;
31 achievements, a bestiary, statistics and a tutorial;
English, Russian and German;
full controller support (Xbox and PlayStation button prompts) and full keyboard and mouse controls.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to raise the price slightly at full release, as the game grows with new content. Buying in Early Access is the cheapest way to get the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We read every Steam review and discussion thread and reply to them. The main menu has direct links to ask a question and report a bug, so feedback reaches us straight from the game. Bug reports and balance suggestions go into regular updates, each with a changelog that says what was changed and why. Before adding bigger features, such as Events and new bosses, we will describe them in announcements and ask players what they think. Leaderboards and achievement stats also show us where runs end and which parts of the game need tuning.”

About This Game

# The dead keep coming. Please, make them stay dead.

Please Stay Dead is an endless top-down tower defense. Waves of the undead pour out of a rift and march through a maze of tunnels toward the seal that holds it shut. There is no final victory. Every run ends when the seal falls, and everything you earn makes the next run stronger.

# Fight the horde

- Ten types of towers: crossbow, machine gun, mortar, ballista, sniper, flamethrower, Tesla coil, frost obelisk, toxic tower and crystal drills

- Sector turrets sweep the arc you choose, and nearly every shot pierces through the crowd

- Combine elements for combos: shatter frozen enemies, chain lightning through ice, set the crowd on fire, poison them with chemical shells

- Call in a wall of spikes, an airstrike, an orbital laser or a nuke

# Reshape the battlefield

- Dig new tunnels or fill old ones to steer the horde

- Fortify rock so nothing can dig through it

- Seal every entrance and the diggers will tear their own way in

- Corpses slow the horde down, and burning blood sets the crowd ablaze

# Survive the bosses

Necromancers that raise the dead, a toxic cube that silences your towers, a clown that swaps them around, a berserk that gets angrier as it bleeds, a magician with decoys and a bomber that blows up the rock beneath you. From wave 101 every boss wave brings more of them.

# The horde learns

Enemies adapt to the damage you use most. Lean on one element for too long and the next waves resist it, so keep your arsenal varied.

# Grow between runs

- A huge talent tree with more than 200 talents across three trees: towers, abilities and general upgrades

- Crystals from crystal-bearing enemies and drills pay for permanent upgrades

- Pick boons and curses every 25 waves and shape each run differently

- 21 maps, each bigger and harder than the last

- Achievements, Steam leaderboards for every map and optional difficulty modifiers

# Features

- Endless waves with thousands of enemies on screen at once

- Full gamepad support

- Fully rebindable controls

- Available in English, Russian and German
