Survive the Stone Age at a campfire with Orin at your side. Keep the fire burning and settlers come. Then watch that same spot grow into a village, a castle town, a harbour, a city and the neon city of 2077. A voxel survival sandbox where the world behaves like a world.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“VoxWish is built around player wishes: you can send a wish from inside the game, and wishes that fit the world get built. That only works with real players, so we want you in the world while it grows.

Our goal for Early Access is to finish all six ages - from the Stone Age to a neon city in 2077 - together with the community. You play, you tell us what is missing, unclear or broken, and we ship updates. We work on VoxWish continuously and are committed to updating it regularly until every age has the depth players ask for, and to seeing the game through to its full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Roughly 6 months. How long exactly depends on how many player wishes we build along the way, so this is our best estimate, not a fixed date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The game is playable from start to finish of what exists today, but it is not complete. For the full version we plan to add:

- More depth in every age: more tasks, more crafting, tools and workstations, especially for the later ages.
- More animals, more behaviour for townsfolk and more requests from the people who live in your world.
- Seasonal events.
- More polish: performance on weaker PCs, controls, sound and more text languages.
- Features that come from player wishes.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is fully playable. It already contains:

- A large voxel world to explore, build and survive in, with a survival mode and a creative mode.
- Needs such as hunger, thirst, warmth and rest, a day and night cycle, and nights that are truly dangerous.
- Dozens of animals to hunt, avoid or tame.
- A companion who travels with you and helps you get started.
- A tablet with task paths that guide you through the ages.
- Settlers who arrive when you build, put up their own houses and ask you for help, plus trading.
- Six ages of places you can already travel to and build in: camp, village, castle town, harbour, city and a neon city in 2077, with their inhabitants.
- Four quality levels and an automatic mode for different PCs.
- English voices, and text in English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Chinese.
- A wish and bug report button inside the game.

Please see the "About This Game" section for more details.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We don't plan to raise the price when we leave Early Access. If that changes, we'll say so well in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community is the reason VoxWish is in Early Access. Press F1 in the game to send a wish or a bug report straight to us. Bug reports can include a snapshot of your world, so we can see exactly what you saw. We read every single report.

Wishes that fit the world get built. We also read the Steam discussions and reviews, and we post update notes on Steam whenever a new version ships, so you can see which wishes and fixes made it in.”

About This Game

Home is 2077. You wake up in 10,000 BC.

You start high above the neon towers of 2077, in the rain. Then you wake up at a campfire by a lake in the Stone Age, and Orin is there with you. The only way home is forward: through six ages, all at the place where you first kept the fire going.

One place, six ages

  • The Camp: keep the fire burning and build a home around it. The first settlers move in.
  • The Village: fields, a well, a bread oven, animals in the pen, trade with the neighbours.
  • The Castle Town: wall and moat, a market with coins, a tournament by day and a siege at night.
  • The Harbour: a quay and ships, salt from over the sea, and the first steam.
  • The City of Today: streets and shops, a job with pay, a flat to rent.
  • Cyberpunk 2077: neon towers, vending machines everywhere, cars in the air.
What you built yourself stays. The ages grow around it.

Survival you feel

  • Hunger, thirst, cold and sickness all matter.
  • Murky water can make you sick, so boil it first.
  • A fire needs fuel, or it goes out when you need it most.
  • Tools wear down. Fish, hunt and cook over the fire.

Animals that act like animals

Wolves hunt as a pack. A panther stalks the night. A cave lion waits in the tall grass, and a spitting cobra rises when you get too close. Crocodiles lie still at the water's edge. Deer swim across lakes, and there are foxes, bears, aurochs, birds and fish.

A world that behaves like a world

Trees topple with real physics, and a badly supported build comes down. Cave systems run deep under the hills, and every one of them can be walked. Day turns to night, and rain comes and goes.

Orin

Orin stays with you from the first night. He shows you things, helps when you're stuck, and comes when you call. He can get hurt too, and then it's up to you.

The tablet

Your tablet from 2077 shows the way home: every age, the steps that lead there, and what comes next.

Built from wishes

Press F1 anywhere in the game and wish for something: a block, an animal, a whole feature. Every wish lands on our public board, and the board shows both dates, when it was asked for and when it landed in the world.
