About This Game

BLOCKMANIA starts as the block puzzle everyone knows: three pieces in your tray, an 8×8 board, fill a row or a column and it clears. Then it gets out of hand.

Every piece comes from your own bag, and you can upgrade it: chrome that pays Chips, neon that adds Mult, gold that prints Credits, glass that shatters for a multiplier. Between rounds the Toybox sells Jokers, 70 rule-bending cards that grow with every clear, copy their neighbours, pay you for patience or double everything the others do. Each placement is scored as Chips × Mult, and every number is itemized on a receipt, so you always know why a move was worth 12 points or 12 million.

  • Place one of three pieces. Before you commit, the board shows where it fits, which lines it completes and exactly what it will score.

  • Clear rows and columns for Chips, then multiply them with Mult from combos, block materials and Jokers.

  • Beat the target before you run out of placements, collect your Credits and spend them in the Toybox.

  • Survive 12 rounds across three acts. Each act ends with a boss that rewrites one rule.

70 Jokers, 4 of them Legendary

Chips, Mult and ×Mult cards, economy cards, cards that grow for the whole run and cards that copy the one next to them. Order matters. The four Legendaries change how the game plays: The Avalanche adds gravity and chain waves, Hall of Mirrors makes every Joker trigger twice, Philosopher's Stone turns your bag to metal and Supernova builds each round to a crescendo.

A puzzle you read at a glance

No hidden rolls and no timers. Carry a piece and you see the score before you place it: every result is decided by the rules and only shown by the effects. Lines flash, blocks burst in the style of their finish, Jokers fire one by one with their own sound and the score rolls up the tube.

Build your bag, not just your deck

The Toybox sells Jokers, one-use items (a throwable Emergency Brick, an Eraser, a Second Tray) and Workshop upgrades that edit the pieces themselves: repaint, rotate, copy, shred, add materials and stamps. Save your Credits to earn interest, or overkill a target for a bonus.

Bosses with an entrance

Every act ends with a boss that bends one rule: fixed blocks, a tax on your first line, barred tray slots, a tombstone every third move. From act 2 they come back as Mk II, with a warning cinematic, a hazard-tape frame and their own music.

Choose how hard the next round is

Before each normal round, play it straight or take a twist for a reward: Double or Nothing, Gold Rush, Rush Hour, Mult Fever, Treasure Hunt and more. Keep one piece in reserve with Hold, and check your bag's odds before you commit.

Blocks with character

Fourteen animated finishes: light rolls through stained glass, neon tubes flicker, lava pulses, stars fall. Each has its own glow, particles and sounds.

  • Five Kits: different starter bags and signature rules (Standard, Compact, High Roller, Chunky, Tetromino), unlocked by playing.

  • Heat 0–5: win a run to unlock the next stake. Bigger targets, fewer placements, capped interest, and at Heat 4 every boss is Mk II.

  • Daily run: one seed a day, with the same pieces, shops and bosses for everyone.

  • Overtime: beat round 12 and keep going. Targets explode, and the only way out is losing, or scoring one quadrillion points in a single placement and breaking the machine.

  • Endless: a relaxed arcade mode with a ×10 combo ladder, Hold, 15 block styles, a local top ten and a score graph for every game.

  • 60 achievements on five pages, ten of them secret. Some unlock new Jokers.

  • POPS, the arcade's old caretaker bot, shows first-time players around, then gets out of the way.

  • Mouse-first, with full keyboard play on every screen.

  • Reduced Motion calms the animation and keeps every number on screen.

  • Block patterns, so colours never carry meaning on their own.

  • Separate strengths for screen shake, flashes and edge effects; an optional CRT filter; game speed; custom or system cursor.

  • Every score is itemized, and every boss rule, target and card is shown before it matters.

Every pixel, sound and note in BLOCKMANIA was made for this game by a solo developer: pixel art and the Blockhead font, and an original synthesized soundtrack.
