What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Gold Master is fully playable, but a management game lives from its balance and from how players actually run their studios. Early Access lets us tune the economy, events and difficulty with real feedback, and decide together with the community which features matter most, instead of guessing on our own. ”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect Gold Master to stay in Early Access for about six to twelve months. ”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version should be better balanced and easier to get into. Areas we intend to work on include a guided introduction for new players, balancing of the economy, events and rival studios, additional events and content, and improvements to the translations based on player feedback. What exactly changes will depend on what players tell us during Early Access. ”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable, from founding your studio to running a company for decades. It includes game development with 32 genres and seven platforms, hiring and managing staff, building your office, research and engine development, marketing, publisher deals, licenses, going public, post-launch support and esports. It supports 30 languages, full controller support including Steam Deck, Steam achievements and Steam Cloud saves. There is no guided tutorial yet, the balance is still being tuned, and the translations were created with the help of AI and have not yet been reviewed by native speakers. ”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to raise the price slightly when the game leaves Early Access. Everyone who buys during Early Access will not have to pay again for the full version. ”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We read the Steam discussions and reviews and use them to decide what to improve next. Patch notes will explain what changed and why. When something goes wrong, the game writes a log file that players can attach to a bug report, which helps us track problems down quickly. Larger changes may first be offered on an optional beta branch so interested players can try them early. ”

About This Game

Found a game studio, make games and lead your company through the decades. Gold Master is a business simulation about the games industry: you decide what your studio builds, who works on it and how it reaches players, one week at a time.

Found your studio

Pick a name, logo and colour, a philosophy (gameplay, technology, graphics or business) and one of six locations, from Berlin to Seoul. Start in 1980 in the age of arcade machines or at any point up to 2010, as a solo developer or with a small team.

Make games your way

  • 32 genres and seven platforms, from PC and consoles to mobile, VR and cloud

  • Balance gameplay, graphics, technology, audio, story and AI during development

  • Sell your game once, make it free-to-play or run it as a subscription, with editions, pre-orders, Early Access and regional releases

  • Plan trailers, campaigns and trade fair appearances, and watch the wishlist grow before launch

Lead your people

Hire programmers, game designers, artists, sound designers, QA testers, marketing managers and researchers. Everyone has skills, a personality and salary expectations, grows through courses and career steps, and gets along with colleagues or doesn't. Build your office from 20 room types and give everyone a desk.

Run the company

Research new technology, build your own engine and license it to other studios. Take out loans, bring in investors, pitch to publishers, secure licenses for films, brands and sports leagues, go public and found subsidiaries. Rival studios compete for the same players, the press reviews your games, and events ask for decisions, from team conflicts to lawsuits.

After launch

Keep your games alive with patches, DLC, updates and season passes, run servers for online games, release ports and remasters, and build esports leagues with tournaments and sponsors. Awards, charts and a chronicle of your studio show how far you have come.

At your own pace

  • Time only moves on when you start the next week

  • 21 automation rules take routine work off your hands if you want them to

  • Full controller support, including Steam Deck

  • Available in 30 languages

  • 28 achievements and saves in the Steam Cloud
