Game Overview

Pioneer Venture: Echo is a single-player, top-down action RPG centered on spaceship combat. Collect ships, upgrade your gear, and master your ship’s momentum in battle. Clear the screen with a single button press amid heavy enemy fire—or be swallowed by a storm of bullets. Use Extreme Dodge and ship abilities to turn the tide and uncover the truth behind the ancient Echo.

This demo includes both Survival Mode and Story Mode.

Survival Mode

A lightweight roguelite mode with 10-minute runs and no story. Jump straight into the action. Start with a basic ship and weapon, then choose buffs, equip modules, and evolve your gear between battles to shape your build. Fight through ten consecutive encounters, culminating in a boss battle. Each run lets you try different combinations.

Story Mode

Start with the tutorial and play through Chapter One’s four story missions, featuring clearing, escort, interception, and boss battles. Return with loot, collect ships, and upgrade your gear for the next sortie as you experience the opening of the Echo’s story. Complete Chapter One to unlock Hyena Gathering, a mission you can challenge repeatedly.

Core Mechanic: Extreme Dodge and Counterattack

Graze enemy projectiles at high speed or dash forward through incoming fire to trigger Time Gap. As enemy ships and projectiles slow down, manually launch up to three counterattacks. Fire the final shot immediately or charge it for a stronger hit. A narrow escape can become the opening for a devastating counterattack.

Thrilling Boss Battles

Read each boss’s attack patterns, find a firing angle, and seize openings between evasion and offense. Combine weapons, ship abilities, active equipment, and trait skills, then make your Extreme Dodge counterattacks count when it matters most.

Upgrade Between Sorties

In Story Mode, invest the Credits and materials you bring home in equipment upgrades, hull refits, and captain training. Shop for equipment, or buy and upgrade ships at the shipyard. Each return is a chance to refine your loadout for the next sortie.

Pick Up Buffs in Battle

Explore the battlefield and collect buffs, choosing the upgrades that suit your weapons and tactics. Strengthen your firepower, mobility, or survivability throughout the run, giving even a familiar loadout a new rhythm.

Choose Your Ship and Playstyle

The demo offers three ship and weapon paths built around gravity weapons, cannons, and missiles, plus an advanced ship for each path. In the full game, collect 30+ ships with distinct roles and pair them with seven weapon types: gravity weapons, cannons, missiles, lasers, floating cannons, pulse generators, and bomb launchers. Different ship abilities, weapon rhythms, and equipment combinations let you approach the same mission with a new strategy.

Mutate Your Equipment

Use Mutation Matter to alter equipment and reveal changes one stat at a time. Stats may improve, worsen, or stay the same. Each mutation creates a unique item: equip it to try a new build, use the matching Mutation Cleanser to restore the base equipment, or consign unwanted mutated gear for Credits or materials.

Varied Missions

In the full game, take on 40+ replayable missions, from clearing hostile ships to escort, interception, and defense. Test your loadout further in repeatable operations and expeditions. Changing objectives, enemy formations, and battlefield conditions demand different tactics as you balance pursuing enemies with protecting mission targets.

An Epic Story

In the full game, cross territories held by rival factions and follow clues hidden in anomalous signals, lost ruins, and conflicting machine systems. As the campaign unfolds, uncover the buried history and secrets behind the ancient Echo.

More Features and Ways to Play

In the demo, consign unwanted mutated equipment for a chance at a big payout, and use combat enhancers before launch to strengthen your next battle. The full game also offers Crowdfunding for a shot at higher-grade gear. Play with keyboard and mouse, or entirely with a controller.
