TETHER is a neon arcade rope-swing race. Grab the nearest anchor, swing, and let go at the right instant to fly toward the finish. Race a ghost of your best run across five courses, from a city at night to a black hole, or chase distance in Endless.

About This Game

Race the line. Beat your ghost.

Grab an anchor, swing, and let go at the right moment to fly to the next one. Let go too early and you drop short; too late and you stall. Time it right and you cross the gap clean. Fall below the red line and the run is over. One key puts you straight back on the platform.

Easy to pick up, hard to master

  • Four controls: grab, steer, reel the rope in or out, and boost.

  • Yellow orbs bank a super-boost for a bigger launch.

  • Every tool is yours from the first run.

Five courses, one swing

  • Five fixed courses, from a city at night to a black hole. Each one asks more of the same swing.

  • Once you've set a time, a ghost of your best run races beside you, with a live split that shows if you're ahead or behind.

  • Ranking systems on every course: a medal for every finish and a Steam leaderboard for each course.

Beyond the courses

  • Endless: swing for distance with no finish line.

  • A daily course: a new timed course every day.

  • Earn stardust as you play and spend it on small permanent upgrades. Nothing is sold.

  • Goals, titles and skins to unlock along the way.

In the build

  • Single-player.

  • Keyboard and mouse. Keys can be rebound.

  • Pause or restart a run at any point.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

All of the game's audio, the music and every sound effect, was generated with ElevenLabs and is AI-generated. All art is drawn by the game's own code at runtime and was not generated by an image model, except two licensed third-party icon sets that are not code-drawn and not AI-generated: the menu's 13 icons, which are Tabler Icons (tabler.io, MIT licence, recoloured), and the key and button prompt icons, which are Kenney's Input Prompts (kenney.nl, CC0). The five course backdrops and the game's icon are an exception too: they are vector art that an AI coding assistant wrote as SVG code, not images generated by an image model. Store capsules and screenshots are captures of the game. The trailer's music was also generated with ElevenLabs. The code and design were built by the developer working with AI coding assistants, with the game's feel judged by human playtest.
