What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“After a year of development, VoxKart is playable from start to finish: 10 circuits, 55 cars, five modes, a campaign across the 10 circuits, a Daily Challenge, and the track and car builders. We want to tune it on what players tell us — difficulty, the credit economy, online play, controller play and how it runs on a wider range of PCs — and use that to shape the circuits planned for the full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About six months. The final length depends on what players report during Early Access.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“More circuits are planned for the full release; they would extend the campaign and make the badges that need them earnable. The full version is planned to include the fixes and balance changes made during Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Playable from start to finish across 10 circuits. All five modes are in: Race, Arena Battle, Last Stand, Time Trial and Free Roam. You race up to 24 computer rivals (circuits with a short start straight seat fewer) at four difficulties, with 55 cars and visible upgrades. There is a 10-circuit campaign with stars and badges, a Daily Challenge, local leaderboards, and the track and car builders. The circuits planned for the full release appear on the circuit picker as locked cards. A controller works in every menu and in both builders; Steam Deck has not been tested yet. The interface is in English and Simplified Chinese; the track and car builders are in English only for now. Online play through Steam lobbies is in: host a room, invite friends or share a room code.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may rise at full release. Anyone who buys during Early Access gets every update and the full version at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through the game's Steam discussions. Bug reports and feedback there on difficulty, the credit economy, controls and the circuits decide what gets fixed and tuned first, and each update's notes say what changed. The Daily Challenge gives every player the same circuit, car and twist each day, so everyone races the same thing and can tell us where it is too hard or too easy.”

About This Game

Race the pack. Wreck the pack.

VoxKart: Combat Circuit Racing is an arcade racer against computer rivals or your friends online. Every car fights with a ram bar or a gun, and every car is built from voxels — so when the armour gives out, the bodywork comes off block by block until the engine shows.

Early Access

This is an Early Access game. It has 10 circuits today — a beach city with a bridge over open water, downtown skyscrapers, autumn highlands, spring foothills, an alpine ridgeline, a rain-washed gorge, a desert canyon valley, a glacier, a jungle temple and a live volcano — with all 55 cars, all five modes, a campaign across the 10 and both builders. More circuits are planned for the full release. The circuit picker shows them as locked cards; they cannot be raced in Early Access.

Fight for every metre

  • Tuck into a rival's slipstream, build the tow, then pull out for the slingshot.

  • Chain drifts, near misses, jumps and takedowns into a style multiplier that pays out in credits.

  • Nail the perfect start. Whoever wrecks you becomes your nemesis — and revenge is worth the detour.

  • Gatlings, rocket pods, homing rockets, a pulse laser and an arc cannon from the garage; flamethrowers, mortars and mines from the crates on the track; railguns, swarm pods and battering rams for the cars you build yourself.

Build the car you race

  • 55 cars, from street sports cars to winged racers and muscle cars.

  • Upgrade engine, tyres, armour, boost and weapons — the parts bolt onto the car where you can see them: turbos, blowers, wings, nitrous racks. The Gunsmith does the same for your gun.

  • Paint, liveries and number plates, and a voxel car builder for designs of your own.

10 circuits

Seven of them carry a corkscrew. Five jump a gorge, and on four of those the jump is a cliff dive straight out of a corkscrew. Glacier, Canopy and Caldera add ski jumps, a step-up and a camelback between them, and at Caldera the volcano erupts on the final lap as night falls. Race any circuit by day, at dusk or at night, in clear skies, a heat wave, cloud or rain. Then lay out your own circuits and arenas in the track builder.

Modes

Race · Arena Battle · Last Stand · Time Trial · Free Roam — plus a campaign with stars and badges, a Daily Challenge, and local leaderboards. Set the field to as many as 24 computer rivals (circuits with a short start straight seat fewer), 2 to 20 laps and four difficulties. Online through Steam: host a room, invite your Steam friends or share the room code, then race them or fight it out in a deathmatch.
