What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Ranked Rock Paper Scissors is built around competitive PvP, deckbuilding, progression, and an evolving card meta. While the core gameplay is already playable, we believe the game will be significantly better if its systems are developed alongside an active player community.
Early Access gives us the opportunity to observe how players build decks, develop strategies, interact with the ranked system, and respond to different cards and game modes at a scale that internal testing cannot reproduce. We plan to use that information to shape balance, progression, competitive systems, content priorities, and other parts of the game as it develops toward 1.0.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Early Access to last approximately 6–12 months, although the exact duration will depend on player feedback and how the game evolves during development. We want to reach 1.0 when the competitive systems, progression, content, and overall player experience have reached the level we are aiming for rather than commit to an arbitrary date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“During Early Access, we plan to continue expanding and refining Ranked Rock Paper Scissors based on how the community actually plays the game.
Areas we currently expect to develop further include the card pool and deckbuilding meta, ranked progression and competitive systems, multiplayer formats, rewards and collection systems, player onboarding, balance, presentation, and additional gameplay content.
We also expect player behavior to influence the direction of individual cards, mechanics, progression systems, and future seasonal content. Some systems may be redesigned, expanded, or replaced as we learn what creates the most interesting competitive experience.
Our goal for the full version is a deeper, more mature competitive ecosystem shaped by the strategies and feedback that emerge during Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version contains a fully playable foundation for Ranked Rock Paper Scissors, including online PvP, deckbuilding, card-based Rock Paper Scissors combat, progression, ranked play, multiple multiplayer formats, roguelike-style runs and rewards, and collection systems.
Players can build decks, compete against other players, progress through the ranked system, earn rewards, and experiment with the current card pool and strategies.
However, these systems should not be considered final. Balance, cards, progression, matchmaking, rewards, multiplayer formats, user experience, and other systems are expected to evolve throughout Early Access as we observe how the community plays the game.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently do not plan a significant price change when leaving Early Access, although this may be reconsidered as the scope of the game evolves. Any changes would be communicated to the community in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will be a major part of development throughout Early Access.
We plan to use Steam Discussions, Discord, gameplay data, player surveys, balance feedback, bug reports, and direct community discussion to understand how strategies and metas develop.
In particular, we want players to help us identify dominant or underused cards and strategies, evaluate ranked progression, improve matchmaking and multiplayer formats, refine rewards and progression, and influence which areas of the game receive additional development.
Competitive games often develop in unexpected ways once thousands of real matches are being played, and we expect those discoveries to meaningfully influence the direction of Ranked Rock Paper Scissors as it develops toward 1.0.”

About This Game

READ YOUR OPPONENT.

A familiar showdown. A much deeper game. Ranked Rock Paper Scissors is a competitive roguelike deckbuilder where reading your opponent matters as much as building your deck. Inspect their piles, anticipate their next play, and turn the simplest rivalry into a battle of bluffs, counters, and calculated risks.

THEY KNOW YOU’RE WATCHING

Your opponent’s draw, discard, and exhaust piles are part of the battlefield. Study what’s been played and what remains, but remember, they can read yours too. Do you play the obvious counter, or the card that beats their counter? A hidden Secret Weapon can change the answer.

ONE GOOD READ. A WHOLE TEAM’S ADVANTAGE.

Duel in 1v1 or coordinate in 2v2 and 4v4 battles. Share your reads, combine complementary builds, and choose where to focus your attacks. Double up on a vulnerable enemy or spread the pressure. Your target is part of your strategy.

CLIMB TO CHAMPION

Put your reads to the test in ranked competition and work your way toward level 50: Champion. Season 0 end-of-season rewards are planned to include card packs, cosmetics, and profile badges.
