What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are a small independent team - two developers and two designers - self-publishing SCP: Project Pneuma. Early Access lets players experience Chapter I now and lets us hear what is working and what is not while Chapter II is still being built. For a team our size, that feedback is the difference between guessing and knowing. Chapter I is complete and playable today, and what follows will be shaped in part by what players tell us.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect SCP: Project Pneuma to remain in Early Access for approximately 6 to 12 months. With a team of four, that estimate depends on how much work comes back from player feedback and on the development requirements of Chapter II, so the timeline may change. We would rather extend it than release Chapter II before it is ready.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to build on Chapter I's foundation with Chapter II, continuing the story of Project Pneuma through new locations, additional narrative content, expanded gameplay features, and further encounters with anomalous entities. We also plan to use Early Access feedback to improve performance, stability, balance and polish across the whole game. These are our intentions rather than promises - as a small team, we will be open with players if scope or timing has to change.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version contains the complete Chapter I experience: a fully playable story campaign, multiple explorable environments, investigation mechanics, environmental puzzles, and encounters with several anomalous entities. Chapter I takes most players around 2+ hours.
UI and quality-of-life improvements are in progress, and some minor bugs remain. Chapter II is in development and is not included in this version.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we leave Early Access and ship new content and
features, including Chapter II. Any increase will be announced in advance so that anyone
considering the game has the chance to buy at the current price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will directly guide what we work on. We will read player feedback, bug reports, gameplay suggestions and balance discussions through the Steam Community forums, our Discord server, Reddit and our social channels. With only four of us we cannot act on everything, but we can read everything - and we will be open about what we are prioritising and why.”

About This Game

The world ended the moment the Foundation lost control.

SCP: Project Pneuma is a single-player psychological survival horror experience set during the aftermath of Project Echelon, a secret protocol that shattered containment across the globe. As Dr Alexander Kolchak, a SCP Foundation researcher and one of the few survivors of Site-63, you must journey across a haunted exclusion zone to reach Site-19—and the truth.

But the deeper you go, the more the world twists. Reality warps. Familiar places corrode. You're being hunted—not just by anomalies like SCP-173Z, SCP-096Z, SCP-939Z, SCP-239Z, but by your own mind.

Piece together what happened through journals, voice logs, and environmental storytelling. Confront horrific SCPs with stealth, scarce resources, and quick thinking. Endure hallucinations that test what’s real—and what isn’t.

You'll navigate Site-63's ruins using stealth and scarce resources — there is no winning a fight against SCP-106. The hallucinations aren't just atmospheric. They will make you question which doors are real. because the Foundation never wrote down what it couldn't explain.

This communicates the same features but keeps the reader inside the world.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

This game contains intense horror elements, depictions of graphic violence, scenes of psychological trauma, and disturbing supernatural encounters. Some moments feature blood, dismemberment, depictions of death, and hallucinations related to mental deterioration.
