What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game is still a prototype. You can fly, visit stars, planets, and warp between systems. The other built-in features are still rough. For instance, there is no actual combat gameplay yet and we want the community members to give us honest feedback while we implement it. We want to release this game early so player can guide us in the right direction.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game will be in early access roughly up until 2029 and we also have a targeted date for early public testing by June 2027.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Early Access starts with exploration, barebone mining and building, player interactions controls, trivial combat. We plan to refine every concept: Fly (Wormholes & jump gates, Exotic phenomena), Mine (Hauling & markets, Refining & depots), Build (Blueprints & manufacturing, Fittings & upgrades, Fuel & logistics), Fight (Insurance & cloning, Salvage & looting, Contracts & bounties, Territory & sieges, Alliances & diplomacy, Corporations & fleets, Faction standings, World events, NPC activity)”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“It is the prototype from our devlog, playable. Four galaxies, warp lanes between systems, and the server-authoritative architecture. It is rough in specific ways: placeholder art, plenty of bugs, minimal sfx, etc.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Free-to-play, forever. A project sustained by cosmetics, never pay-to-win.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We post frequent Dev Logs on our official website. They are reposted across popular social media platforms. We're available on Discord to chat with interested community members.”

About This Game

Eclipsis is a classic multiplayer space MMO. Fly your ship through star systems and across galaxies. Player interactions and decisions shape the universe.

The Story

You are a clone. Humanity survives by decanting new minds from the Archive: every skill and every memory sealed into a lattice, printed into a new body, and sent to the frontier. There is no childhood, no family. It's your time to make the most of what life has become. Explore space. Connect with other clones. Build positive or negative relations. Set your mind to a goal and conquer.

Goals

This can take many forms. In Eclipsis, you can focus on becoming the richest clone in the known universe or simply be a mining worker, if you only have time to casually play a little bit. Everything a player does keeps the Eclipsis gears turning.

Challenges

Choose from many avenues. For instance, you can challenge yourself with hard missions that are doable alone, or easier with a group. Many of the challenges within Eclipsis can require you to spend time preparing your ship with good tech, augments, or anything that gives you an edge against the enemy.

Core Game Mechanics

Playtime

Essentially endless. If you're tired of fighting, you can lay low and wait for battle to steal loot. If you're tired of mining, you can go explore other spaces, deeper spaces, unknown wormhole locations. If you think you've seen everything, you can start ship and equipment production, and make your mark on the market. If you're at the top, you can control factions, territories, as a true commander of your own religion. If you don't feel like playing, you can simply connect and chat, help newbies, let others know you are bored, or whatever.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

We use AI as a production tool in areas of development, with all creative direction, concepts, and final assembly done by humans:

Code assistance: AI tools help us write and debug GDScript/shader code for our Godot 4.5 engine. All architecture, game design decisions, and systems design are human-led.

3D models and art assets: Some 3D models and textures are AI-generated or AI-assisted, then manually cleaned up, retopologized, and integrated by hand. Final visual style and direction are decided by us.

Audio: Some sound effects and audio elements are AI-generated, then curated, edited, and mixed to fit the game.

Everything else — the game concept, world design, story, gameplay systems, and the process of bringing all elements together into the final game — is entirely human-made.
