Why Early Access?

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version contains the core gameplay experience, including traditional chess rules, first-person gameplay, playable characters, different game views, and AI opponents.

The main addition planned for the full version is a multiplayer campaign focused on story, exploration, and puzzles. Players will be able to progress through story-driven scenarios together, encounter different challenges and chess-based situations, and solve puzzles as part of the campaign.

The full version is planned to expand on the Early Access foundation with additional content and features, including:

* A multiplayer campaign with an original story and story-driven scenarios.
* Cooperative puzzles and challenges designed for multiple players.
* Additional environments connected to the campaign.
* Further development of multiplayer and team-based gameplay.
* Improvements and additional options for PvP and PvE matches.
* More AI improvements and difficulty balancing.
* More achievements and Steam integration features.
* Improved animations, visual effects, sound, and overall presentation.
* Gameplay balancing, bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements based on player feedback.

Some features may change or be adjusted during development based on technical limitations and player feedback. The core concept of first-person chess, where players directly control a character associated with a chess piece, will remain the foundation of the game.

The Early Access version is intended to provide the complete core gameplay loop, while the full version will expand it with the multiplayer story campaign, puzzles, additional content, and further polish.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is a fully playable experience focused on the core concept of FallChess: Wizard's Chess.

Players can play chess matches using the game's first-person system, mount and control their pieces, capture opponents, and experience the game from different camera perspectives. The game supports single-player and multiplayer experiences, with configurable chess clocks and multiple gameplay options.

The core gameplay is functional, but we expect to continue improving the game through bug fixes, balancing, polish, optimization, and player feedback throughout Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We may gradually increase the price as new content and features are added during Early Access. Players who purchase the game earlier will have access to the version available at that time and will continue to receive future updates included with their purchase.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to involve the community through player feedback, discussions, bug reports, and suggestions. Community feedback will help us identify issues, improve existing features, balance gameplay, and determine which areas of the game would benefit most from further development.

We will also use community response and engagement to help evaluate the scope and direction of future content, including potential larger additions such as a campaign mode.”
