About This Demo

THEORY WORKS: YOUR FRIENDS DON’T is a strategy party game for 3 or more players, inspired by game theory. The demo features the Coin Game: share a pool of coins with your friends, work out how much you can safely take, and keep a card ready for when someone ruins your calculations.

The biggest pile wins… nothing.

At the end of the game, the players with the most and the fewest coins get no points. Of everyone left, only the three with the most coins score. You want a healthy pile, not a fortune.

Watch the turn order and the shrinking pool. How much did the players ahead of you take? How much can you afford to take now? A little arithmetic helps. Trusting your friends helps rather less.

Nice pile. I'll take it.

Scout another player's coin count, then pick a target for a swap. Or play a rotation card: everyone's entire pile moves one seat clockwise. Suddenly, who you're sitting next to matters a great deal.

That carefully chosen pile was yours a moment ago. Your friend swapped it away, and now a rotation has handed it to their neighbour. Before you play, think one move further: who will actually get to keep those coins?

Now would be a good time to stop.

The game ends when the pool runs dry. If you're behind, add coins with a skill card and buy yourself time to catch up. If you're ahead, try to hang on while everyone empties the pool.

Then there's Coin Bomb. Once it's played, every time anyone takes coins, there's a chance the game ends on the spot. Still want to adjust your pile? You might not get another turn.

You've got some explaining to do.

Use built-in text and voice chat to bargain, bluff, or ask why your friend felt the need to refill the pool just now. If they swap away your coins, a preset taunt can do the talking for you.
