What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Power Showdown already offers a playable tactical combat experience, but we believe community feedback will make it substantially stronger.
Early Access will allow players to help us refine combat balance, artificial intelligence, map performance, character abilities, campaign progression, and the Map Editor while the game continues toward its full release.
Our goal is to develop Power Showdown alongside players who enjoy tactical team-building games and give that community a meaningful voice in determining which systems, characters, maps, and quality-of-life improvements deserve the greatest attention.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Power Showdown to remain in Early Access for approximately 12 to 18 months.
This is an estimate rather than a guaranteed deadline. The exact duration will depend on technical stability, player feedback, balance testing, campaign development, and the progress of online multiplayer. We would rather keep the game in Early Access until it reaches a dependable and satisfying state than rush the transition to version 1.0.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to provide a more polished and complete Power Showdown experience.
Our current priorities include expanding and refining the campaign, improving artificial intelligence and performance, balancing characters and powers, enhancing custom-map creation, adding more maps and gameplay content, improving onboarding and accessibility, and completing dependable online multiplayer.
We also plan to continue refining visual presentation, animations, terrain assets, interface readability, loading behaviour, and overall stability based on Early Access feedback.
These plans may evolve as we learn how players use the game and which features contribute most strongly to the experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Power Showdown is currently playable as a tactical turn-based combat game with a large roster of heroes and villains.
The current version includes:
- A playable tutorial
- A single-player campaign with character and currency rewards
- AI skirmish battles
- Team building and character collection systems
- A large roster with distinct statistics and powers
- Multiple maps and terrain assets
- A Map Editor for creating custom battlefields
- Custom-map battle support
Core systems—including movement, ranged and close combat, powers, damage, knockouts, turns, terrain, elevation, and AI-controlled opponents—are implemented and playable.
Players should expect ongoing balance changes, interface refinement, performance improvements, content updates, and occasional bugs during Early Access. Online multiplayer remains under active development and should not yet be considered a completed feature.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Power Showdown is free to play and is planned to remain free to play after leaving Early Access.
Players can access the core game without purchasing it. Optional in-game purchases allow players to purchase coins, which can be used for available in-game content.
Coin packages, store offerings, and the in-game economy may be adjusted during Early Access based on balance data and community feedback. We will communicate any significant changes affecting purchases or progression.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to involve the community through Steam Discussions, development updates, patch notes, playtesting, surveys, and direct feedback.
Early Access players will be encouraged to report bugs, identify confusing rules or interface elements, share custom-map experiences, and provide feedback on character balance, artificial intelligence, campaign progression, performance, and multiplayer development.
We will use this feedback alongside gameplay testing and performance measurements to prioritize updates. We also plan to communicate which issues are being investigated, what has changed between builds, and which larger features are currently under development.
Community feedback will help guide Power Showdown, but changes will still be evaluated against the game’s overall tactical identity, technical feasibility, and long-term balance.”
