About This Game

Your weapon is a slot machine. Your life depends on what it pays.

Misfortune is a fantasy roguelite where every battle is fought on three reels. Spin swords, shields and strange relics into deadly combinations.

Luck gives you a starting point. What you hold, what you reroll and what you put on those reels is up to you.

Know when to cash out

Enemies show their next move. You have a spin, a limited number of rerolls and a decision to make. Keep the shields that will get you through another turn, or risk them for the jackpot that could end the fight.

Hold individual reels, reroll the rest and cash out when you’re ready. Combat is turn-based, so take your time. The consequences will wait.

Build your own good fortune

Every new symbol changes your odds. Choose which reel it belongs on, cut the blanks and arrange your symbols to work together. Payouts resolve from left to right: a shield can power up the mace beside it, while a Mirror Orb can repeat the symbol before it.

Turn poison into your main source of damage. Build a wall of armor that hits back. Hoard gold to fuel your attacks, or chase wild symbols and enormous jackpots. Relics change the rules, and extra paylines let more of your machine pay out at once.

Take the dangerous path

Travel from the Crypt to the Sunken Cathedral, through the Hollow Wood and into stranger places beyond. Choose your route through fights, shops, rest sites and encounters offering tempting deals.

Hunt elites for powerful relics. Stop to repair your machine. Wager gold—or blood—in a gambling den. At the end of each act, a boss puts your build to the test.

Lose a run. Find another way.

Defeat leaves you with chips to spend in the Vault. Unlock new symbols, relics and starting decks, or buy permanent upgrades for your next attempt.

Beat all five acts, then push further in endless play or turn up the challenge with Heat modifiers.
