What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Fifth Sun is a co-op survival game where groups of players build, explore, fight, and experiment together. Observing how real groups approach these systems will provide valuable feedback for balancing combat, progression, cooperation, and the overall player experience.

The complete vision spans five mythic worlds, with the first two forming the initial Early Access experience. Working directly with the community will help refine and polish the game as development continues toward the full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Current estimate is that Fifth Sun will remain in Early Access for approximately 12–24 months. This timeframe may change as development progresses and community feedback helps identify areas requiring additional iteration or polish.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to expand the game from two mythic worlds to five. Each additional world is intended to feature its own environment, creatures, bosses, dungeon type, equipment tiers, and distinct gameplay mechanics.

Other planned additions include expanded shapeshifting skills, extended Divine Favor systems, and greater challenges for later stages of progression. World 3 is currently planned as the first major expansion to the Early Access experience. These plans may evolve in response to development needs and player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version contains two playable worlds: Cemanahuac and the Jaguar Sun, culminating in the New Fire Ceremony.

Players can explore procedurally generated maps and dungeons alone or cooperatively through Steam using invitations, the friends list, and join codes. Current systems include structural building, tiered crafting and equipment, cooking, farming, explorable landmarks, combat, core Divine Favor, character perks and skills, and world bosses with telegraphed attacks.

Each world is designed to provide approximately 5–10 hours of progression-focused play, depending on the player or group. Players may spend considerably longer gathering resources, exploring, building, and upgrading.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The Early Access price reflects the game’s current content and scope. The price is expected to increase gradually as major content, including new worlds and systems, is added. Any pricing changes will be communicated to the community in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Development plans and progress will be shared through a public roadmap, regular development updates, and patch notes. A dedicated Discord server will provide channels for feedback, bug reports, suggestions, and community playtesting. The game will also include a convenient shortcut for submitting feedback.

Player feedback will be reviewed throughout Early Access and used to help identify bugs, balance existing systems, improve usability, and inform development priorities.”

About This Game

Four suns have already died. Yours is next.

You start beside a temple the earth has half swallowed. Raise it, and what answers?

Fifth Sun: New Fire is a survival crafting adventure through the ruins of Aztec myth. Play it alone, or bring friends. Watch the sky too. The calendar is alive, and some days are cursed.

Make the jungle yours

Track animals through grassland and jungle. Fell trees, mine stone, hunt with spears and cook what you catch. Learn what the night brings, and be ready when it comes.

Build a home worth defending

Build with wood and stone: houses, walls, watchtowers, lakeside homes and temples that tower over the trees. Every expedition starts at your door, and every victory is carried back to it.

Awaken the beast within

Take on the spirit of the jaguar, the eagle or the serpent, and fight, run and heal in ways no ordinary hunter can. Follow the constellations to grow your powers. Earn the favor of the gods, and when you pray at their altars the sky itself may answer. Craft stronger gear, and when your friends are beside you, combine your powers.

Wake the legends

Legends still sleep at their ancient altars. Cipactli, the sea monster the gods tore apart to build the earth. The shadow of Tezcatlipoca, god of the smoking mirror, who sees everything you do. Wake one and you face a living myth.

Each fight is a challenge you can master. Learn its tells. Bring everything you've built. Then prevail. Your temple transforms, your gear grows stronger, and the way forward opens.

Descend into forgotten places

Hidden entrances lead into flooded caves, shrines and forgotten dungeons, full of puzzles, treasure and the path to each world's guardian. Every sun still to come brings its own dungeons and arenas.

Your way, alone or together

Take it at your own pace, or host a world and invite your friends through Steam. Split the work at home, share the hunt, and face the legends side by side. No server to rent.

Walk the dead suns

Carry what you've earned to the grand altar and complete the New Fire Ceremony. Then step into the dead suns: the age of jaguars, the age of wind, the age of fire, the age of flood. Each is a whole world with its own creatures, gods and ruins. Early Access opens with your home and the age of jaguars. Wind, fire and flood are on the way.
