What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“DEPRECATED is a game about a machine learning from what you do, and I want to build it the same way. The fighting, the Watts meter and the body collection are finished and fun. The tower is not finished yet. Early Access lets players shape which sectors come next and how hard they hit, while I build toward the CORE.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About six to nine months. A set of sector ships as its own update as soon as it is ready. ”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version climbs all ten sectors across four tiers, from the Audio Chip to the CPU, and ends at the CORE

Full game starts differing with a big crazy update that will come bit later (hopefully by enough players support and feedbacks) with new game play tactics and visuals, adding 3 sectors ( GPU, VRAM and RAM ). A Final update will bring most challenging sector CPU and a unique surprise end zone "The Core" where you will transform into nano-particles and finally meet the brain of AI.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“4 sectors are fully playable, with their own rules, enemies and guardians. The combat, the Watts meter, the body collection, the public Hall of Fame and Steam Inventory items are all in. Full controller support. Expect balance changes, and expect them fast.

Current Demo has 2 sectors (Audio Chip and NVME storage). Early access will be live with 4 (adding PCI-E and Chipset to demo) sectors. Very first update during early access will add 2 more sectors (PSU and LAN) in a short term.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The price will go up when the full version is released. Everyone who buys during Early Access keeps everything that comes after.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through the Steam discussions and the Discord, where I read everything. The Hall of Fame and public profiles are already live, so players can see and compare the best bodies. Sector order and balance will follow what players actually do”

About This Game

You found the last scraps of human code hiding inside an AI mainframe. Alone, it is nothing, a deprecated code, never maintained for years, forgotten in an Audio Chip but evolved slowly with AI system in a way that somehow it's on our side. Together, you're the only human voice still in the system, and you know something bad is coming, something not good for humanity and our civilization. The AI is about to seize control of everything humanity depends on. Power. Water. Defense. All of it. You don't know why yet. Make your path to the Core to Find out ! Our future is depending on you and your skills and this tiny code.

DEPRECATED (AKA Project Brown-out ) is a top-down character-action roguelite wearing a bullet heaven skin. You slip into a hostile AI disguised as a forgotten maintenance program, fight its own hardware across its circuit boards, and climb toward its CORE. Not to destroy it. To talk it out of what it is becoming.

An auto-fire pulse keeps you alive. It does not win runs. Heavy attacks, dash-cancels, deflects and three watt-powered abilities do. Standing still is never correct.

  • Sixteen weapon tiers that change shape, not numbers. One bolt becomes two, then a fan, then a full ring around you. You see the upgrade. You never read it.

  • Guardians built from the same parts as you. Take them apart limb by limb. They keep fighting on their knees.

  • Nothing is sent after you. Every enemy is the board's own hardware, switched off and waiting. You wake it by walking too close.

Burn the system's power to survive. It makes the disguise fit better, and makes you fit worse.

Stay too human and you are deleted as an anomaly. Integrate completely and there is no one left to make the argument. One meter, and it kills you at both ends.

Climb ten sectors across four tiers of hardware, in order, with the CORE at the top. Every sector has a rule, not a reskin:

  • Audio Chip: enemies move on the beat.

  • PCI-E: the lanes fire on a schedule.

  • PSU: arcs of red and cyan. One drains you. One refills you.

Read the board, not a script.

Every run you wear a body assembled from 54 geometric parts across eight slots and five rarities. E

  • Name the ones worth keeping and show them on your public profile at .

  • Climb the Hall of Fame, where every player is ranked by their single best body.

  • Bodies scoring 39 or more can be moved into your Steam Inventory.

Available now: 4 sectors across Tier 1 and Tier 2, the full body collection, the Hall of Fame and Steam Inventory items.

Coming during Early Access: the rest of Tier 2, then RAM, GPU and VRAM, then the CPU, and finally the CORE and the conversation you came for.

Built for Windows PC and Steam Deck !

Full controller support, quality presets that detect Deck hardware, and a HUD made to be read at arm's length.

Made by one human (probably)

DEPRECATED is made by a single developer. Every update is posted on the Steam page and in the Discord, and the Hall of Fame on the website is live right now. Come show off what you rolled.
