About This Game

1 V 1 Me Bro.

Checkmate is dead. In Chase The King, both kings start with no pieces and earn them by making aggressive moves. Each piece has a cost and you can throw out all the old opening moves. Challenge yourself through 100 Elo-rated difficulty levels offline, or chase real opponents online.

The hunt is on.

You know chess. Careful development, slow squeezes, endgames that take longer than the opening. Chase The King throws that out. Here, the enemy king is not a passive target sitting behind his pawns, He's prey, and he knows it. Every turn he can bolt, dodge, and slip through your lines. Your job is simple to say and brutal to do: run him down before he escapes.

No checkmate patterns to memorize. No 40-move theory. Just you, sixteen pieces, and a king who refuses to die quietly. Every rule change in Chase The King exists to punish passivity. Turtling loses. Trading into a dead-drawn endgame loses. The players who win are the ones who commit who fling their knights forward, open lines, and close the net one square at a time. If you've ever wished chess felt more like a pursuit and less like a negotiation, this is your game.

100 Levels of Difficulty. Rated Like Real Chess

Most chess games give you "Easy, Medium, Hard." Chase The King gives you a ladder. 100 AI difficulty levels, each calibrated to an official chess Elo rating: from Level 1 at 250 Elo (never played before? start here) to Level 100 at 3200+ Elo, a strength no human in history has ever reached. Every level is a precise +30 Elo step, so progress is steady and every rung is beatable with effort:

  • The Pawn's Path (Levels 1–20) — Beginner to casual: learn the hunt without getting punished

  • Club Hunter (Levels 21–40) — Club strength: the AI starts defending its king with real intent

  • Tournament Blade (Levels 41–60) — Tournament class: Class C through Expert-rated play

  • Titled Hunter (Levels 61–80) — The titled gauntlet: Candidate Master, FIDE Master, IM, and Grandmaster strength

  • Grandmaster Elite (Levels 81–90) — Super-GM territory: Level 88 plays at peak-world-champion strength

  • The Machine (Levels 91–100) — Beyond every human who has ever lived. No one has beaten Level 100. Will you?

Beat a level, climb a rung, and always know exactly how strong you've become — in real chess terms.

Play Anywhere, Chase Anyone

  • Single-player, fully offline — all 100 difficulty levels with no internet connection, no account, no waiting

  • Online multiplayer — chase real opponents and prove the ladder made you dangerous

  • Real chess DNA — standard pieces and movement you already know, with one twist that changes everything about how you attack

  • Learn in one game — if you know how the pieces move, you know how to play; mastering the hunt is another story

On the Roadmap: 2.5D Visual Upgrade

Chase The King is getting a full 2.5D visual overhaul: depth, dimension, and dramatic staging for the board, so every closing net looks as tense as it feels.

Who is this for?

Chess players tired of draws. Strategy fans who want depth without a library of opening theory. Ladder climbers who want a number to chase. Anyone who has ever looked at a cornered king and thought: what if he could run?
