Its grammar is of film… The shaders playing with opacity remind me of how silent films intersperse characters and background to create a visual that is more than the sum of its parts. And the way the game “documents” the corridors, the passages, the open spaces, the closed spaces, and the architecture the two protagonists traverse reminds me of the visual novel “documentary” I’d like to make: just two characters walking to the humming of the city.”

About This Game

OBLIVION 2666 is an experimental visual novel featuring a unique, dynamic style of filmic presentation and an intricate literary writing style. A synthesis of cinematographic techniques and detailed illustrations, composited and parallaxed against film and early digital photography; the story takes readers through the recorded memory of a city drifting between remembrance and oblivion, through themes of estrangement and belonging, bureaucratic satire, social decay, and the end of every promised future.
