Coming Soon To Early Access

The developers of this game intend to release as a work in progress, developing with the feedback of players.

Note: Games in Early Access are not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development. Learn more

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Three Kingdoms Reimagined already has a complete campaign loop: choose a
landed house, manage a living war, command field battles and sieges, develop
settlements, recruit officers, and pursue unification. Early Access lets
players stress the long campaign, balance the many factions, and tell us where
orders, information, and Officer Destinies need to be clearer. That feedback
will shape tuning and usability without changing the game's core identity.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Early Access to last roughly 9–12 months. Quality and
player feedback will determine the exact timing, so this is a target range
rather than a promise.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to improve campaign balance and pacing, tactical
performance at the largest battle sizes, tutorials and interface clarity,
Officer Destinies presentation, hardware compatibility, and localization
quality. Development priorities may change with player evidence; customers
should buy only if the current playable version is worth the price to them.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Windows version is playable from the 196 AD opening through the
campaign victory condition. It includes famous and custom landed houses, a
real-time campaign map, diplomacy with peace envoys, economy, quests, saves,
manual and automatic battle resolution, field battles, walled sieges, single
combat, named officers with signature moments, legacies and nemeses, council
work, relationships and Officer Destinies. Two players can share a campaign
online or fight a custom battle. It has 30 Steam achievements and gamepad play.
English and Simplified Chinese interfaces are present. This is a systems-heavy
independent game: balance, large-battle performance, onboarding, and
presentation are still being refined, and players may encounter bugs or rough
edges.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently plan to price the game lower during Early Access and may raise the
price when the game reaches 1.0 to reflect added polish and value. Any change
will be announced in advance. Existing owners will receive the full version at
no additional charge.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Steam Discussions will be the primary public feedback channel. We will post
patch notes and development updates, maintain clear bug-report instructions,
and use reproducible saves, logs, and player reports to prioritize stability,
balance, clarity, and quality-of-life work. We will not promise that every
suggestion becomes a feature, but we will explain the direction of major
changes and keep the store page current.”

About This Game

Rule a house in 196 AD

Three Kingdoms Reimagined is a strategy game for one or two players. You rule from a pausable real-time campaign map of China and fight your battles yourself, with thousands of soldiers on the field. Begin as Cao Cao, Liu Bei, Lu Bu, Sun Ce or another historical ruler, or create a ruler of your own.

Command the battle

When armies meet, fight the battle yourself or let Auto Resolve settle it. Choose a deployment plan, then order your cohorts to move, attack or hold, and watch morale and fatigue before you commit them. Officers lead their own share of the army, and soldiers near an officer's banner hold together. When your men break and run, raise a standard and rally them. Switch on Auto Battle and your officers fight on until you take command back.

Famous officers have moments of their own. Zhang Fei roars, Lu Bu breaks the first rank, Sun Ce's charge shakes the line it hits, and Zhao Yun cuts his way out when he is surrounded. Each happens once a battle, and the battle banner names it when it does.

Single combat

Before a battle, one commander can challenge the other to single combat, fought out on the field while both armies stop to watch. Compare their martial skill before you accept: a close match can go either way.

Take the walls

Cities are fought for on their own walls. Send a ram crew to the gate or ladder parties up the wall, fight for the stairs, open the gate from inside and hold the courtyard. As the defender, man the battlements, guard the gate and keep a reserve for the breach.

Decide where to expand

Develop settlements, muster troops, trade grain and goods, and appoint officers to lead armies or run your cities. Your council proposes a plan; you choose which one your commanders follow. Scouts and reports show part of the situation, not every enemy movement.

Make peace by sending an envoy with terms, gold or a returned captive. Hold a majority of the realm's 29 capitals to claim the Mandate, and expect the other courts to unite against you before the end. Win as Emperor, as Regent of the Han or as King, depending on the road you took. Lose your last holding and your house falls.

Every battle carries on

A victory may win territory while leaving your army too weak to press on. Survivors, wounds, captured officers and lost gates all stay in the campaign. Officers earn deeds, traits and titles as they serve, and a commander who keeps beating one of yours becomes a nemesis. Open their dossiers to see how they have changed, and read your campaign's story in the Chronicle.

Share the campaign with a friend

Two players can play one campaign together, each leading a historical warlord from their own seat. Begin as allies, at peace or at war, and keep the alliance or break it. Allies fight in each other's battles, each commanding their own army; rivals race each other for the realm. Stop and save together and carry on later. Custom Battle has a multiplayer lobby too, with drafted officers and armies of up to 500 men.
