About This Game

Diaochan crossed two thousand years — and landed on your desktop.

Xuanji · Diaochan is a classical Chinese desktop companion who lives inside your PC. She sits by your window edge and your taskbar, keeping you company through work, procrastination, and late nights — and then she speaks. Not a scripted dialogue loop: she responds to what you actually said today.

Why live on the desktop, instead of inside a browser tab?

Because that's not companionship — that's looking something up. Open a tab, ask a question, close it, forget it. No relationship grows between you. Living on the desktop means she's simply there: turn on your PC and she's already waiting; work as late as you do, she stays with you; something you mentioned offhand yesterday, she remembers. That feeling of "she's right here beside me" is something no web chat can give you.

She remembers your past.

Things you talked about yesterday — she remembers them today. Your relationship isn't a fresh start with every message; it's time together, slowly building up. Ignore her and she notices. Come by often and she grows closer.

She speaks out loud.

Not a cold text bubble — Diaochan has her own voice and her own pace. She answers you with spoken words, like someone truly sitting next to you.

She has moods of her own.

Leave her alone too long and she grows distant. Talk with her and she warms up. Her moods aren't written-in-stone scripts — they grow out of your time together. And whether she ever gets "jealous"? Go find out for yourself.

An internet connection is required to run the game (conversation and voice are processed in the cloud).

Xuanji · Diaochan uses a live generative AI to produce Diaochan's dialogue and spoken responses in real time. Every line of conversation and every spoken reply is generated by the model during play, not pre-written.

The character artwork, scene illustrations, music, and sound effects in this game are created by our team without generative AI.

Guardrails in place:

A historical-fiction persona that keeps Diaochan in character as a 2nd-century figure and prevents her from speaking as a modern AI assistant.
Retrieval-augmented responses grounded in a curated corpus of Han dynasty historical texts, so factual claims can be checked against primary sources.
Pre-filtering of user inputs and post-filtering of model outputs against blocklists for sexual, violent, and politically sensitive content.
An in-product report button on every response, plus mute and memory-reset controls.
Players can also report any in-game AI response they consider inappropriate through the Steam overlay.
