About This Game

Every tile belongs to exactly one word

Most word-search games hide a few answers in a field of filler. WORDLACE has no filler at all. The answers tile the whole board — every letter belongs to exactly one of them — so "use everything" is a second source of deduction, and a finished puzzle is a completed drawing rather than a half-scratched grid.

One route, and only one

Trace a word across neighbouring tiles, diagonals included. Paths may not cross: not their own route, and not another answer's. Every puzzle is checked before it ships — an exact-cover search proves that no other set of words the game knows covers the same tiles, and that each answer has exactly one traceable route. When a trace is correct, it is the intended one. There is no guessing at what the designer meant.

640 puzzles, in two languages

320 in English and 320 in Russian, each with its own vocabulary, its own difficulty curve and its own progress. The interface language and the puzzle language are set separately, so you can read Russian menus while solving in English, or the other way round. Both campaigns are in the box.

Difficulty that was measured, not guessed

Eight chapters. Every puzzle's difficulty is scored from its geometry — how carved the board is, how the paths tangle, how the words interlock — and the chapters are built to a curve from that measurement. Board shape leads; vocabulary follows, so advanced words appear late rather than early.

Nothing that nags

No timers. No lives. No advertisements. No hint currency to run out of and buy. Hints are a five-rung ladder — one letter, then the starting tile, then a second letter, then half the route, and only then the answer — and the game asks before it gives a word away. A clean solve is recorded permanently, and one hard puzzle never blocks the rest: chapters open at 70%.

Made to be played with anything

Mouse, keyboard or controller, all first-class. Full keyboard play with a cursor that skips what cannot be selected. Light and dark themes, a high-contrast mode, colourblind markers, and an interface that scales from 85% to 135%. Screen readers are told what happened, not just that something did.

Yours, offline, once

One purchase. Runs with no connection. No account, no telemetry, no store inside the store.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

An AI assistant was used while making this game: the word clues and definitions. Nothing is generated while you play - every puzzle, word and clue is fixed in the build and verified before release. The art is not AI-generated: the capsules, logo and icons are rendered by our own tool from the game's own colours and mark, the interface sounds are by Kenney (CC0) and the music is licensed from Ovani Sound.
